We aren't going to agree on this one Cleets. Guns can be used for protection, both from other pepole and from the government. Pot is recreational unless you have a legit medical need. They are similiar, yet entirely different. I really can't believe you are digging your feet in on this one.Chizzang wrote:here is no good reason Marijana should NOT be legal for adults

This past Monday, I spoke with an old friend who confided his house is in foreclosure...

So you're saying we need an EC(b) state to man up and legalize it? I agree.89Hen wrote:I'm not sure CO and WA are the best test for anything east of the Mississippi.Grizalltheway wrote:

However, these two states are going to a lot of work in creating the legal atmosphere before other states start joining in. South Carolina, Maine, Texas, California are going to look at the legal troubles (or lack thereof), the tax implications and the overall effects on society. Marijuana related stats will help other states and eventually the Federal Gov't make the right choice and end this prohibition on weed.

I think a NE state would legalize it before a puritanical southern state. Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Massachusetts will legalize it before the former CSA does.Grizalltheway wrote:What about New England?89Hen wrote: I'm not sure CO and WA are the best test for anything east of the Mississippi.

Yeah, but it would be Vermont, which again is not a great sample for the rest of the country.Ibanez wrote:I think a NE state would legalize it before a puritanical southern state.Grizalltheway wrote:

Re: Majority of Americans Support Legalization of Pot
Florida, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Missouri, Minnesota, Tennessee and West Virginia all have legislation pending the approval of medical marijuana, so there are 10 states that probably aren't any closer. So with those 10, and the 2 legal states out of question, we have 38 states with a chance. I'll count out SC b/c we're getting close, but a recent poll shows the favorable/unfavorable at 49%-51%. I hear Alaska and Oregon have a great chance of approving recreational weed in the near future.

Vermont
Population = 600,000
Percent Whte = 94%
Homeownership rate = 71%
Persons per square mile = 67
Largest city = Burlington (40k)

Yes and neither is Vermont. Ones that would be good tests IMO: Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Virginia, NC, SC, GA, FL.... c'mon guys. Re: Majority of Americans Support Legalization of Pot
I didn't say that. I just said they're more likely to legalize. Get a grip. You keep saying this state or that state are a good example without saying who you think is a good example.89Hen wrote:Seriously? You think Vermont would be a good sample?Ibanez wrote:

Oregon, or at least Portland decriminalized weed decades ago...and look at all the chaos....Ibanez wrote:Florida, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Missouri, Minnesota, Tennessee and West Virginia all have legislation pending the approval of medical marijuana, so there are 10 states that probably aren't any closer. It's a tax boom. Maryland is all over it. It would certainly make quitting drinking easier.

Re: Majority of Americans Support Legalization of Pot
SC is years away as is Florida, Ohio and New York. Massachusetts has the best chance among those listed. The following states including DC have introduced legislation to legalize it: Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, and Vermont. I bolded the only one you mentioned.89Hen wrote:Yes and neither is Vermont. Vermont has a high rate of pot users.
From what I've read over the last few months, Alaska will most likely be the next to legalize it followed by either Vermont or Oregon. You might not think it's a good sample, and that's your opinion, but only one of the states you've listed has a real shot in the coming year or two.
