FINALLY!!!

Post by SuperHornet »

Congratulations to Ray Guy, the first and only pure punter ever drafted in the first round. He was FINALLY elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. This is LONG overdue. In a thirteen-year career, Guy only had three punts blocked, uncorked a long of 77 yards, and was the first punter to hit the top of the New Orleans Superdome during a game. Guy went to the Pro Bowl seven times, and was named to the HOF All-'70s First Team. Yes, this honor is LONG overdue....

Also elected are Seattle OT Walter Jones (who?), TB LBer Derrick Brooks (who?), NYG DE Michael Strahan, Buffalo WR Andre Reed, AZ CB Aeneas Williams, and Atlanta DE Claude Humphrey. Guy and Humphrey were nominated by the Seniors Committee.

Snubbed were PIT RB Jerome Bettis (mistake there), IND WR Marvin Harrison (also a big mistake), LAR/StL "elephant" Kevin Greene (I'm sort of on the fence here), SF/DAL DE Charles Haley (HUGE mistake), KC G Will Shields (probably OK to leave him out), Whiners owner Eddie DeBartolo (I hate the Whiners, but he DID get them turned around after two straight 2-14 seasons, thanks to the fortuitous hire of Bill Walsh and inspired 3rd round pick of Joe Montana), OAK/LA Raider WR Tim Brown (EPIC mistake), DEN S John Lynch, Jr, PIT S/IND HC Tony Dungy (bad move there), NO K Morten Andersen (purely a tasteless anti-K move, in my book).

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Brooks was part of one of the best defenses in NFL history. You should know who he is. :ohno:

Yeah, but he didn't play before 1990 and isn't a girl.

Actually, it's more that he played defense on the East Coast. The only Buccaneer defenders I know are the Selmons....

And he is also VERY famous for only having 3 letters in his 1 name and 3 letters in his last name. Ray Guy........How many other people can say that! (Ass Hat doesn't count!)
