Not anymore. You need both to win in most major sports today. Baseball, a relic of the past (while still relevant and enjoyable, resistant to most forms of modernization), is the only one where that's not the case. That's a tired cliche. Yes, defense does work and it has, but "all-defense, weak-offense" teams don't win championships in major sports anymore.

Football? You can't win without an elite QB anymore. At least under the current rules and culture. That's under the heading of "offense," in case you were wondering. Were the 09 Saints elite defensively? No. How about the Ravens last year? Hardly.
Basketball? You need to have the most elite players...or more than your opponent does...while also being able to get stops.
Hockey? You need at least 2 elite lines, a hot goalie, and two good defenseman pairings. Every team that has won the Cup recently has had those qualities.

Nota bene: Mostly so SE doesn't get his panties in a twist...I don't include Seattle as an all-defense, weak-offense team. No copouts if your clowns lose the Super Bowl.
Just wondering...your team wouldn't happen to be playing in the Super Bowl this year would it? :suspicious:

Nice try. Stay on topic. I'm not a Broncos fan. Rest assured that the Seahawks have a less meaningful history as a NFL team than mine does (and that will always be my comeback until Seattle matches them- which won't happen in our lifetimes, unfortunately for you). If you still want to bitch about who my team is, start a thread or PM me. Don't waste others' time here with the stupid games you and the rest of your Seachicken-loving friends like to play.

The Seahawks will not be able to win this game on defense alone. If Russell Wilson lays another egg and Marshawn Lynch can't run the ball (basically Denver's D creates a copy of what they did to New England 2 weeks ago), how exactly will the Seahawks win? I doubt Peyton will gift them this game by himself. The fact remains that Seattle will need to be somewhat proficient on offense. Denver will score. They have great offensive personnel. The rules favor them, even if Seattle's defense is great. If the Seahawks can't top 20 points, they're done. :twocents:

Playing games? Did you really just accuse Seahawks fans of playing games, when you're the one whose been dangling "my team which I won't name is better than your team" this whole time?   :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: :dunce:

Some facts for you...

Since reallignment in 2002, there have been 384 offenses and defenses (32 teams x 12 years). Ranked by points scored and points allowed:

Broncos offense: #1
Seahawks defense: #7

Seahawks offense: #60
Broncos defense: #312

Seattle is the #1 defense, and defense wins championships.

Defense wins championships! Denver defense was not able to stop Seattle's offense either.

Um...you must be discounting the recent playoff games where the Broncos emphasized the run over the pass and did VERY well with it. Knowshon Moreno isn't one to shake a stick at....
27 yards rushing by Denver. :coffee:

Whatever you need to tell yourself. Peyton gonna tear that pussy up and keep Seattle 0-fer in the big one.
Bump.
