All skiing events, curling, hockey, biathlon, speed skating, two man luge. The only thing I refuse to watch is figure skating. :tothehand:

I watched Blades of Glory a couple weeks ago. I find it a highly accurate portrayal of that art form.

I really don't care about the Olympics, even when played in my home country. That being said, if I am flipping channels and an exciting gold medal competition is on I might pause for a moment.

I know that SOMEBODY's going to get screwed on this regardless of where the Olympics is held, but I REALLY wish my top things to watch live are on during the blinking midwatch. I REALLY wanna see hockey, but is there any guarantee that NBC will play ALL Team USA games on tape delay? I'm not so sure.

They're showing every game live. Get cable you cheapskate. MSNBC, USA, NBCSN all carry the men's hockey games.

You missed my point once AGAIN, RK. You seem to have an evil predilection for that. Yes, the games will be live...DURING THE FREAKING MIDWATCH! How many are going to watch under those conditions? THAT is why tape delay is required. Yes, the women's USA-FIN game is airing on tape delay right now. But will NBC do that with all of the others? They haven't in the past.

And, yes, I FINALLY dumped U-verse TV and replaced it with Comcast a couple of weeks ago. I have all of the required channels now. But watching a live game that starts at midnight? I don't THINK so.

NBC won't show them on tape delay. I intend to watch every game I can, either live or on replay. I guess I don't care what time it's on...the NHL's been away for 2 days and I'm already getting withdrawals.

Well, maybe they can start the hockey games at 3 in the morning so you can watch them during the day in America. :coffee: :coffee:

Heard that the video the RUSSIAN viewing audience saw didn't show this little "glitch", as those sneaky Russians substituted in video from the pre-game dry-run where it DID work correctly.

Yeah I thought it was some goofy artsy intentional thing.

Should've known it was just typical Russian technology on display.

How many more Olympics will there be before Women's hockey gets eliminated?

Canada and US are by far the best teams. Finland stayed somewhat competitive scorewise with both because their goalie has played well but they are being outshot by 30 by the Americans and Canadians (something like 45-15 in each game). Finland is #3 in the world. Canadians took almost 70 shots on the #4 ranked Swiss and we beat the Swiss 9-0.

It's gotten so bad that they put the top 4 teams in the same round robin group where all will advance versus the other group where only 2 will advance to the knockout stages and the top 2 teams (US and Canada) get byes in the Quarterfinals. That way, neither the US nor the Canadians will have 2 extreme blowout games against even more inferior opponents.

If you eliminate it in the Olympics, it will never be back. Womens ice hockey has been in the Olympics four times. Sweden won a Silver in 2006. The first four times Men's ice hockey was played, Sweden won one silver, all the other gold and silver were the US and Canada. Oddly similar.

Give it time. BTW, as a girls HS hockey coach, I'm a little more sensitive to womens ice hockey. :thumb:

Men's basketball stayed in the olympics while the USA Dominated it for years with college kids. Eventually the world caught up. The Finnish goalie played for the 2012-13, undefeated, National Champion Minnesota Gophers team. Yes, she is good.

Not calling for out now and I support hockey tremendously and wish the women's game were here to stay but other countries have to give it more priority. The US and Canada have done a very good job of developing players. The other countries not so much. The Sweden silver medal happened even though we outshot the Swedes 39-18 but couldn't outscore them (2-2 through OT) and lost in a shootout. That was an anomaly though. Sweden was not within 8 goals of either US or Canada in 2010. Finland seems to be the team that is competitive this year and was the closest in 2010 (losing by 5 or 6 to the powers I believe).

Hopefully, in 4 years and 8 years it will be different but in 8 years, if there is only one other team within 5 goals of the Americans and Canadians like this year, it is tough to justify that it should remain an Olympic sport. If others start to move like Finland in the next 8 years, then great. If not, it turns into a joke event outside of the gold medal game.

I know unfortunately, the amount of men in the Winter Olympics is much greater than women, but there needs to be more than 2-3 strong competitors (and all else weak) to make it to the Olympics. Hopefully, there will be development in the game.

The test of the world hasn't really caught up to the U.S.as much as the U.S. got really really complacent about the idea of international ball...

In the 12 Olympics the U.S.and 8-0 with an average mov of 32 (which could have been MUCH HIGHER but they called the dogs off).

They won their 5 exhibitions before the Olympics Jr an average score of 100 to 72....

They are something like 68-1 under coach K since about 05

It will stay because of the Olympics version of Title IX - plus, the expense of Olympic Hockey is the rink - so as long as there is men's hockey, no reason to eliminate women's, even if two countries dominate it.
