I love the Olympic shootout rule where anyone can take a shot after the first 3 shots are taken. Oshie is a beast. To score in 4 of 6 shots is insane when the goaltender has a real advantage in the shootouts.

To be fair, there were no medal games in 1980. They didn't start until 1992. Before that, it was just a round robin final grouping. If the US had lost the CCCP game, we may have needed to beat the Fins to get a medal (would have depended on score of the US-CCCP game).

No letdown for the Men's hockey team as they beat Slovenia 5-1 with 2 goals being scored in the first few minutes. We gave up the goal in the last 30 seconds of the game after it was over

Russians had to win in a shootout today against a Slovakia team that has not played well.

We will likely be the 3 seed in the knockout rounds behind the winner of Finland/Canada and Sweden. Loser of Finland/Canada likely to be the 4 seed with Russia being the 5. Means we will likely play Latvia/Switzerland play in game in the Quarters and Sweden/(Czech/Slovakia winner) winner in the Semis if we win the first game.

If Finland/Canada go to OT, the assumptions below are off and we are the 2 seed and we'd play the Czech/Slovakia winner in the quarters. Sweden in that case would be the 1 seed and Canada/Finland winner would be in the same half of the draw as us.
