Re: NO OFFENSE TO THE EMPTY SUITS
I would say I definitely lean right a little but I have had my opinions on some things changed as well due to the discussions on the boards. The one thing that irritates the fuck out me though is that there is never just a rational discussion. It always leads to name calling and the same old shit throwing monkey' contest. I like the energy of the discussions but I can pretty much not go back to thread after the first page because NEITHER SIDE will ever concede a good point made by the other. Once a good point is made it turns into the name calling idiocy, It would be cool to just once to read a good discussion. I will say though Cleets that I don't see that from you very often if at all, at least in the poli discussions. But in spite of that you're still a fuckin' dick.Cleets Part 2 wrote:Okay you smart asses... (But it hurts when I open my mind)

Absolutely agree. I well timed political smack is funny, but when you have little else it makes any discussion disappear.Ursus A. That is the main reason I usually shun poli board discussions.Ursus A. I also admit that I am not an expert at all things political (if that makes me an empty shirt that's fine, at least I know my limitations). I have some opinions that I will share, but I don't know enough, or feel strongly enough to argue about many of them.

Re: NO OFFENSE TO THE EMPTY SUITS
The poli board is tough... I bounce between wanting to respond to all of the lunacy i read, and throwing my hands up and walking away...
when you've spent the years that I have in the business, it's strange to "talk issues" since in my line of work all it was about was winning elections... you'd probably be surprised how little campaigns talk policy behind closed doors.
It's strange, especially when i post a comment that really doesn't judge something up or down, but is intended to provide insight from someone who has been a part of the process... to see the responses...
i noticed i tend to post more on process stuff than issue stuff... i suppose that makes a lot of sense

I've lost some interest in the Poli-board lately...OL FU wrote:Absolutely agree. I well timed political smack is funny, but when you have little else it makes any discussion disappear.Ursus A. Now, I love cleets but he loves "to poke it in your eye" (Dontcha, huh yes you do). However, unlike some, he can certainly debate most issues with the best of them.
The effort required to debate is not equal to the reward of sharing ones experience....
Also philosophically I've kind of slipped back into existentialism again...(It's summertime and life is easy)
where I recognize how clearly and plainly I just don't give a sh!t what 75% of the posters think
BTW: I can spot ego-maniacs like Native a mile away
even as they try to hide behind..."Oh I really am interested in your opinion"
which is then followed by 10,000 word post of maximum pontification
frankly it's exhausting...

I also shy away from political dicussions, but for a young guy who really has little political experience and little experience outside of the Northeast, I find it very interesting to see different points of view, no matter how whacked out I find them. It has really helped me in my work, in which I am thrown into differnt cultures and situations on a daily basis.

Great post! I know you didn't intend for it to be groundbreaking, but it is. Now I know why I enjoy reading the Poli board so much.danefan wrote:I also shy away from political dicussions, but for a young guy who really has little political experience and little experience outside of the Northeast, I find it very interesting to see different points of view, no matter how whacked out I find them. I prefer Marx Brothers over Three Stooges as well. You see the Stooges for five minutes, you've seen it all.
Marx Bros were truly clever and creative. My fav is Duck Soup.
More corn there OL?
