Pretty much everyone I know is either a Twins or Cubs fan. There are a lot of similarity between the two. Both have gone a long time without a title (though one much longer than the other). Both wear red, white, and blue. Both have great fan bases. Both are pretty bad.

There is one key difference I've noticed between the two fanbases though with opening day here. Cubs fans are always full of hope...and then by mid-season are miserable and hate life. Twins fans start the season that way and by mid-season we've actually gone through all the steps of grieving, twice, and just go with the flow.
I'm not really a baseball FAN at all, but my brother has been a big Cardinals fan for a decade or two, so sometimes I'll halfway follow how they do during the season. I get enough misery being a UNI fan, I don't need to compound it with the Twins or Cubs (and St. Louis is just as close as Chicago geographically, so it's not like those damn Yankee fan scum)

He'll hit 18 HRs outside Yankee Stadium. His power numbers jumped dramatically when he moved to the new Yankee Stadium and could aim at the easy right field there.

Beltran will hit 28. Ellsbury will hit 25.

Nice win for the Rays, people complain about the attendance at the Trop but it's the best of both worlds for me. I get to see good baseball and have no problems getting great seats.

When I signed up for DirecTV in San Antonio they said they were throwing in the NFL Network for a year. I begged and pleaded to substitute MLB network (which is actually cheaper!) but they wouldn't do it.

I watched exactly ZERO minutes of the NFL on their network last year.

Last May DTV gave me three months of NFL network along with HBO and Showtime. I said "what the hell am I going to watch on NFL network before now and mid August?"

The answer: crickets.

You're 3-0, but all games were against a AA team. Try and keep it in perspective.

The Mets are going to win 90 games this year, David Wright said so. :coffee:

Before the season gets too far in what are your predictions for each division?

I've got

AL West
A's Angels Rangers Mariners Astros

AL East
Red Sox
Rays
Yankees/Orioles - interchangeable
Blue Jays

AL Central
Tigers
Indians
Royals
Twins
White Sox

*Twins not finishing last is my homer pick...though I firmly believe they'll lose between 90-100 games

I've got a Sox/Tigers ALCS with the Tigers winning

NL East
Braves
Nationals
Mets
Phillies
Marlins

NL West
Dodgers
Giants
D-backs
Rockies
Padres

NL Central
Cardinals
Pirates
Reds
Brewers
Cubs

*I think the Pirates/Reds comes down to less than 2 games

I'll take a Dogers/Cards NLCS with the Cards winning

In the WS of Det/StL I'll go....StL.

We just swept the Angels, and they have one of the worst bullpens in the league. What makes you think they'll finish ahead of us?

Well... Mauer is playing first full time now...

He is 7th in runs scored
6th in total hits (1 out of 3rd)
more HR than sluggers like Chris Davis, Lyle Overbay, Mark Teixiera, Prince Fielder
T 2nd in stolen bases
2nd in league in walks
9th in BA (and improving and most of the guys a head of him won't maintain their averages)
5th in OB%
top 20 in slugging (a head of Miggy, Fielder)
one of just 9 first basemen to not commit an error
9th in range factor (whatever that is)

Not dumb enough to think he'll stay ahead of them in HRs BUT Mauer is a 2 hole hitter...not shocking he doesn't put up a ton of HR and RBI. However, it's safe to say he'll be a top 10 first basement

The Braves destroyed Walgreens yesterday, 10-3. Braves move up to 8-4. Today, they take on the Phillies.
