I was a little older than 12. But unlike a lot, my family made the trip for Braves weekend series 10 to 12 times a year. It wasn't unusual for us to catch the occasional week night game also. Probably saw 30 to 40 games a year from 65(?) to 71 (?). There was no way you couldn't be a Henry Aaron fandal4018 wrote:I was 10AZGrizFan wrote:Saw it live (on TV). I was 12.![]()

Yes. I was (and am) a Dodgers fan. Listening to Vin Scully call that shot was one of the highlights of my childhood.dal4018 wrote:I was 10AZGrizFan wrote:Saw it live (on TV). I was 12.![]()

That was certainly an historic shot, and he had to endure a LOT of cr@p in association with that. DEFINITELY worth the honor.
As far as worth to a team, though, I'd have to move him down a notch or two. I'd want to consider people like Mays, Ruth (despite the presence of a TON of stars in the Yankees' heyday, mainly because he was ALSO a lights-out pitcher), Jackson, Bench, Rose, O. Smith, Henderson, etc. I've never seen anyone with the speed AND power of Henderson, so as much as I love my BRM, Henderson would probably be at the top of the list in terms of value to a team....

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Yes he endured white America's stupidity and to this day he still has those letters written to him by his so-called fan club!!!SuperHornet wrote:That was certainly an historic shot, and he had to endure a LOT of cr@p in association with that. DEFINITELY worth the honor.
