Donovan will work out of the company's Los Angeles studios, with a particular focus on his former team. He will provide analysis before and after the Americans' group-stage matches and during halftime. Donovan will also appear on shows such as "SportsCenter."

Or you could just stay the fuck out of threads that don't interest you.TheDancinMonarch wrote:The sooner the US loses the sooner we can put all of this soccer talk behind us and get on to talking about real sports.

Or...WTAG could just agree with an EC(b)'er and get this soccer shit tossed to the wood pile?Grizalltheway wrote:Or you could just stay the fuck out of threads that don't interest you.TheDancinMonarch wrote:The sooner the US loses the sooner we can put all of this soccer talk behind us and get on to talking about real sports.

I thought that it was important, in this case, to proactively express my disinterest.Grizalltheway wrote:Or you could just stay the **** out of threads that don't interest you.TheDancinMonarch wrote:The sooner the US loses the sooner we can put all of this soccer talk behind us and get on to talking about real sports.

And yes, once the World Cup is over soccer will be gone for 4 years. I'm sure ESPN and a Fox wanted to throw away $720 million over the next 8 years.
I'm cool with it, so long as you're cool with us expressing our interest in your disinterest.TheDancinMonarch wrote:I thought that it was important, in this case, to proactively express my disinterest.Grizalltheway wrote: Or you could just stay the **** out of threads that don't interest you.

Who is your EPL team? Please say anyone but ManUclenz wrote:3 or 4 years ago I was completely on board with hating soccer
I gave it a chance and fell in love with it. I picked a EPL team last season to give me a team to draw me in and I got hooked even more.
I was reffing youth soccer before I left Cedar Falls

Follow European leagues. MLS is garbage.Ibanez wrote:So, I want to try and enjoy soccer. The only US team I know of is the Charleston Battery (USL Pro). What teams are good? What leagues (whatever they are called) matter? IS there a minor league then major league?
EPL, you can watch every single game on the NBC networks. MLS is getting better, but still has a ways to go before it is as enjoyable to watch as EPL, la liga, serie A, etc.Ibanez wrote:So, I want to try and enjoy soccer. Yeah? I'm guessing you're a Bayern fan?Grizalltheway wrote:Follow European leagues. MLS is garbage.Ibanez wrote:So, I want to try and enjoy soccer. I thought if you weren't a Manc you were are Wank.clenz wrote:this.bandl wrote: EPL, you can watch every single game on the NBC networks. MLS is getting better, but still has a ways to go before it is as enjoyable to watch as EPL, la liga, serie A, etc.
It took me watching a full season of EPL and catching an occasional Bundisliga, serie A, etc match to really get hooked.
The EPL is by far the easiest to follow add every game is available.
I have a couple soccer only channels through my cable package (like Gol TV) so I can catch a ton of soccer flof all levels from all over the world anytime...The problem is outside if America and developed Europe HD tv doesn't exist....hell 480p tv doesn't exist. It's hard to tell what the hell you're watching with most South American, eastern Europe, etc...leagues.
The MLS is good enough to get a fix during the off-season of the EPL, though watching it is like watching a MEAC/SWAC game rather than a MVFC/Big Sky/CAA game.
Do what I did, it seemed to work well for me...
Pick an EPL team...not not Man U, Man City, Arsenal, or Chelsea...but not a team that might be relegated...Tottenham is a great example of a team like that. Follow only their EPL season. Ignore trying to understand Europa and FA Cup at this point. That gives you a feel for the game, the club (and maybe you'll find yourself drawn to another club than the one you started with...I started with Tottenham and it stuck). Then follow the off season moves to get a feel for how the transfer system and loan system works. Go into your second season attempting to follow EPL and both Cups.
There is a TON to take in...small steps is what worked for me. I would have given up if I tried to understand EPL, Europa, FA, transfers, loans, etc... all at once since it's so different than anything in America.
