I don't have a problem with the diving or flopping.
My problem with soccer is:
1. The clock
2. Offsides rule
3. Size of goal

I have a hard time believing that goals are not mostly luck. That being said, I am amazed that soccer powerhouses seem to always win the College Cup. So maybe there is some sort of skill involved, but fuck if I know what it is.

I agree. Thought Beasley was good. They were relentlessly attacking his side of the field all night and didn't have a ton of success (and didn't score) until they went the other way.
yeah, there were a few times Beasley was playing ol' winger, came all the way up the field, we lost possession and Ghana sailed a ball into Beasley's left back space. Jermaine Jones was all over the place, especially on that left side, which is where Ghana attacked the entire first half. That's where all those bomber crosses were coming from and where all their shots on goal came from too.

Jones also played well. Maybe Beasley wouldn't have had to carry it forward so much if Bradley was actually awake at all during the game.

I hope Ghana gets another shot at Uncle Sam.Our goal differential says we might advance out of our group but Portugal might have to call it a year no way they score 8 goals in their next match after getting stomped 4-0 by Germany. We play Germany this Saturday 3:00 pm we need to come out of the gates smoking.

What's really so wrong with the clock anymore? I can understand when the ref didn't share how much stoppage time he was adding, but now that they do, the games end pretty much right around the time they announced they were adding. And if there's an injury or other time delay, it gets added back in. Or do you just not like that it counts up rather than down?

The US scored very quickly in the early part of the match a indicator that Ghana was asleep on defense can't do that vs Germany or its curtains for us!!!

The only chance they would get would be if they met in the World Cup Final, and neither team is going to be a favorite to even win a game in the round of 16 let alone make the Final. Ghana can win the midfield against a team like the US, but they won't do that against a team like Germany who actually has a midfield. And Ghana didn't show much finishing touch at all and their defense was shaky whenever the US forwards did get a touch on the ball. Ghana's next chance to beat the US will be in 2018 in Russia, assuming Ghana makes the World Cup then.

The defense looked shaky all game. Besides, if Ghana can't mark Brooks properly on a cross in the box what chance do they have to mark everyone on Germany, a team that practically lives in the air when it comes to scoring inside the box?

No shot at a rematch. Both teams would have to make the finals and there is no chance of that happening. Assuming Germany advances, US has the best shot at moving to the knockout rounds, then Portugal, then Ghana.

US likely can advance with a tie and a loss (assuming the loss is to Germany and not a big loss).

Portugal almost definitely advances with 2 wins (unless US beats Germany - haha), probably with a win over the US and a tie versus Ghana (unless US can pull out a tie versus Germany) and probably not with a tie against the US and win versus Ghana (unless big win over Ghana and/or big loss for US against Germany)

Ghana likely needs to tie Germany and then beat Portugal (and hope the US does not tie or beat Portugal). 3 points isn't going to be enough which is why the US-Ghana loser was likely out. Nobody in the group is going to beat Germany. Ghana is at a bigger disadvantage than the US because Portugal has a number of people out for the US game who at least 1 will be back for Ghana. Also, because Germany plays Ghana 2nd, they will still keep trying their hardest. If they have 6 points and are safely in for the 3rd game, they may rest a few starters for the US game.

Yeah everyone has Brazil keeping the trophy with them.I still can't believe Spain got stomped like that vs The Netherlands 5-1 I guess that they forgot they are the defending champs!!!

By the way, Mexico-Brazil is 0-0 going into the 80th minute. Mexico tie here and then against Croatia advances Mexico (unless Croatia beats Cameroon by 3 or more)

Mexico is the first non-CONMEBOL/UEFA team to get a #WorldCup point off Brazil. Brazil had previously won all 17 matches by a combined 50-5.

I just looked. The fucking game ended in a tie? Why is there no 5 penalty kick thingy to decide a winner?

You can tie in the Group stage. 3 points for a win, 1 for a tie, 0 for a loss

In the knockout rounds, they play 2 extra 15 minutes halves (no golden goal I believe), then go to PKs if necessary.

And the Iran-Nigeria 0-0 game yesterday was even worse than boring. But hey, one dud game this far into the tournament means it's a pretty good tournament.

Based on the stats it looks like Russia-SK is another snoozer.
