Unless Napier is avail when Miami picks. But thanks to Free Agency these days, outside of maybe the top five or six picks that trumps the draft 95% of the time.

This. The draft mattered a lot, but then Lebron opted out and now really the only thing of note is where he ends up and who ends up there with him. The draft is now just one small detail in that saga.DSUrocks07 wrote:This honestly.Ivytalk wrote:![]()

I'll be very upset if the Sixers trade away too much for Wiggins. I have major questions taking him at 3 if he'll turn into a player much less trading away what little hope Philly has to grab him at 1.

What about Parker he made a pre-draft prediction that he will be a Sixer?????bluehenbillk wrote:I'll be very upset if the Sixers trade away too much for Wiggins. I have major questions taking him at 3 if he'll turn into a player much less trading away what little hope Philly has to grab him at 1.

If Parker falls to 3, I have to imagine the 76ers would take him in a heartbeat. He's the most pro-ready player in the draft.dal4018 wrote:What about Parker he made a pre-draft prediction that he will be a Sixer?????bluehenbillk wrote:I'll be very upset if the Sixers trade away too much for Wiggins. Instead of using the draft to "build for the future", its become only a means of attracting potential free agents.GannonFan wrote:This. The NBA really needs to flesh out its D-League system. Make the draft meaningful again.

Wiggins Parker Embiid 1-2-3
No real surprises there. Sixers can wait on Embiid to heal up properly since they are prolly gonna be tanking next year as well.

Well, if the Sixers make the playoffs they lose their first round pick that conditionally belongs to the Celtics. Yeah, I'm sure they'll be lottery material again next year to ensure they keep that pick.DSUrocks07 wrote:Wiggins Parker Embiid 1-2-3

We got Napier, and didn't have to give up Cole to get him. So we're pretty much set at the PG spot for next few years.DSUrocks07 wrote:This honestly.Ivytalk wrote:![]()

Re: 2014 NBA Draft
Very disappointed in the Sixers. I can't imagine working in ticket sales for them. You'd have to be a complete dope to pay money to go watch that team play.
I don't think they realize some of the gaping holes in their own strategy. You can't tank for multiple years, here's why: MCW - rookie of the year last season, you can call it a weak draft class but let's say he gets better this upcoming season & the next. Well he's on a 3-year deal, if you're MCW & you just lost 180+ games in 3 years, why the hell would you stay? Noel, if he's any good will be in the same situation.
It's like the LA Clippers of the 80's & 90's all over again.....

Re: 2014 NBA Draft
Well, they're strategy appears to tank for at least next year and get that first round pick back, and it'll likely be a top 5 first round pick. But if they think they can tank for another year after that they are crazy. After next year, they'll still have MCW, Noel, Embiid, that Croatian kid (if they can get him out of the 3 year deal he has with that Turkey team), the Clemson kid they took in the second round, and the Grant kid from 'Cuse. Plus they'll have whoever they get with the top 5 pick next year. That's 7 players right there. But you have to start winning in 2015-16 or you lose MCW like you said. This type of strategy can't go on forever, you have to come up for air and it will have to be after next year. I think they can do it, but it will mean that everyone stays healthy and that Embiid turns into a player and not another Greg Oden.bluehenbillk wrote:Very disappointed in the Sixers. Just listened to some of the press conference today for the Sixers - it's 5-8 months for Embiid (not 4-6) and the Croatian kid is locked in for at least two years in Turkey. So yeah, this is at least 2 years more of looking like crap, so there is a risk of having MCW bolt and yes, then we get into that Clippers rut where we lose good players as fast as we can replace them with young guys. At least on the bright side I can clear my calendar off for the next two seasons of Sixers games - nothing to see there.

So you don't like the choice of Embiid could pan out give him a chance. The choice of Payton really shocked me the PG from ULLbluehenbillk wrote:Very disappointed in the Sixers. I wonder who will the Sixers sign as free agents heard that they worked out a guy named Pendarvis Williams 6-6 200 pg who helped Norfolk St to upset Missouri in '12 NCAA tournament.Would have made a nice backup for MCW both are same size.bluehenbillk wrote:Very disappointed in the Sixers. Re: 2014 NBA Draft
They will not sign anyone who gives them a chance of winning, at least for next year. The pretty-much-stated goal is to be in the lottery again next year and get their first round pick back. Why would you use a #3 pick and a #10 pick on two guys who won't even play for you next year if you wanted to win at all next year?dal4018 wrote:I wonder who will the Sixers sign as free agents heard that they worked out a guy named Pendarvis Williams 6-6 200 pg who helped Norfolk St to upset Missouri in '12 NCAA tournament.Would have made a nice backup for MCW both are same size.bluehenbillk wrote:Very disappointed in the Sixers.
