You know who's in the SB - did you expect different teams to show up on the schedule? The Michigan game was announced prior to joining the SB, and I could personally do without the Campbell game. It's really not that different than playing a MEAC team in past seasons along with a Jacksonville or Savannah State.dbackjon wrote:Two money games, and a bunch of FCS games. That's the point - you are playing basically a FCS schedule, but paying a lot more for that ability.
Re: 2014 Schedules
You and a lot of other folks are on record that the Sunbelt isn't exactly the ideal move up (if at all). I'm not terribly excited about it myself, except to see a different group of teams although I hate seeing our SoCon rivalries disappear.dbackjon wrote:ASUG8 wrote:

I don't think it is a good idea if everything stays static for the foreseeable future.
A south-eastern FBS level conference of peers would be good:
ODU
JMU
GSU
ASU
etc.
Re: 2014 Schedules
Yeah, that would have been nice, but unfortunately not everyone was ready to go at the same time.dbackjon wrote:ASUG8 wrote:

2014 SUU FOOTBALL SCHEDULE
-Aug 30: @ Nevada
-Sep 06: @ Southeastern Louisiana
-Sep 13: vs South Dakota State
-Sep 20: @ Fresno State
-Sep 27: vs Weber State *
-Oct 04: @ Cal Poly *

-Oct 18: @ Idaho State *
-Oct 25: vs North Dakota *
-Nov 08: @ Sacramento State *
-Nov 15: vs Montana *
-Nov 22: @ Northern Arizona *
Pretty tough slate, especially with 2 FBS Schools and our 2 Non Conference foes SE Louisiana and SDSU both were playoff teams last season. That and we have to play EWU and Montana (we have beaten them before and we are home, but will have to see). Thinking a .500 record at best, hoping we can squeak out 8 wins, especially if were able to upset one of the FBS schools.

Re: 2014 Schedules
You're in about the same boat as UC Davis - two FBS teams and a lot of tough FCS teams. We found out Fresno State is a lot better than us and Nevada is at least as good as the best teams in the BSC. Even with what I think will be a better team than last year - we might end up with a worse record just due to scheduling.SUUTbird wrote:2014 SUU FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

Abilene Christian 2014 schedule:
Wednesday, Aug. 27 – at Georgia State, Atlanta, GA
Saturday, Sept. 6 – Northern Arizona
Saturday, Sept. 13 – at Troy, Troy, Ala.
Saturday, Sept. 20 – Incarnate Word
Saturday, Sept. 27 – at Houston Baptist, Houston
Saturday, Oct. 4 – vs. Lamar, Abilene
Saturday, Oct. 11 – Ave Maria, Abilene Homecoming
Saturday, Oct. 18 – at McNeese State, Lake Charles, La.
Saturday, Oct. 25 – at Sam Houston State, Huntsville
Saturday, Nov. 1 – vs. Central Arkansas, Abilene
Saturday, Nov. 8 – vs. Northwestern State, Abilene
Saturday, Nov. 15 – at Stephen F. Austin, Nacogdoches
2 FBS teams, including one move up (Ga State). Three FCS play off teams (NAU, Sam, McNeese). Only one cream puff (Ave Maria). Looks like we have arrived in the FCS and may come away with some bruises. Oh, well, at least are FBS opponents aren't elite mid-majors or from Power 5 conferences.

Portland State 2014 schedule...
http://www.oregonlive.com/vikings/index ... ase_1.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Three road games, two against the Pac-12 and one against Cal Poly that will count as a non-conference. Only non-conference home game is DII Western Oregon. I would like to get rid of that one, but I don't think it will happen. No ambition among the athletic department to try to bring in an FCS opponent. Better than playing two sub-FCS games, though.

Good to see NAU scheduled a 12-game even if it is a road trip to Abilene - which probably means Abilene is coming to Flag next year.
