Montana actually beat Pennsylvania in Delaware. The Delaware team (who is hosting the thing) went winless, I believe.

Both the Senior League and Big League Softball World Series are being held at the Lower Sussex DE Little League Complex.

The Big League final is an all Delaware final, Milford Delaware (East) versus Laurel Delaware (Host). This is 93henfan's versus Ivytalk's weekend hometowns! 5pm today ESPN2

The Senior League final is Missoula Montana (West) versus South Bend Indiana (Central). noon today ESPN

Pennsylvania. Delaware. Same thing.

Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, the Dakotas, Nebraska, Canada. Same thing.

You are correct that Delaware was once part of PA until we rose up! And set up tolls for them to get to the beach!! :D

Milford, DE wins the Big League Softball World Series.

Quite a controversy at the end. Game went extra innings scoreless. Milford scored one in the top of the 8th. In the bottom of the inning, Laurel led off with a double, but the Milford coach protested that the batter stepped out of the box. Ump called the batter out. Replay showed batter stepped on the line but not out of the box.

The batter had this unorthodox running hop that she did on ever pitch, as if she was looking to do a drag bunt on every pitch. I thought it might cost her eventually and it did.

So that's what all the Laurel Internet "kill the ump" buzz was about on Saturday night. One of my friends (a former Laurel HS jock) compared the ump unfavorably to Don Denkinger. Oh, well.

Those Sussex softball crowds can be mean. Delmar in particular.

Any predictions for the LLWS? Will Japan continue their reign and make it a 3-peat and 4 out of 5? Only 5 times since 1998 has the World representative in the title game not been a team from Japan.

Who has the best chance for the US? Since 2003, every US representative in the title game has been from either the Southeast, West, or Hawaii.

I was talking about the US with my sons today. Nevada looked real strong. Texas should be tough. The boys from Chicago are intimidating at the plate and on the base paths. RI, PA and TN are pretty good. I think the two that are least likely to win would be SD and WA.
It should be entertaining.

Yeah, I've been waiting for a team from Las Vegas to get to the series. They almost always do well in Legion baseball, but play in probably the toughest region outside of Japan. The Chicago team did really well in pool play last year as well, but ran into that overgrown pitcher last season in the regional title game. It was pretty impressive to see them come from behind in this year's title game. Washington usually does pretty well in the tournament, but I didn't see any of their regional games, so I can't really comment on that one. It'll also be interesting to see how that pitcher from PA does with all of the hype, especially if she faces Tennessee as they can hit!

Yes, I definitely meant southeast. Putting Southwest was a definite typo.

The Kekambas just ran up the score today on that Washington team!

The two weak teams (SD and WA) took a beating on opening day.
PA vs. TN today. Should be interesting.

A pretty good TN team went down in dramatic fashion to RI in an elimination game. Trailing 5-2 in the top of the 6th, TN rallied to take the lead 7-5, but RI rallied to win 8-7. TN and SD are now eliminated. WA should be the next to go.
TX, PA, IL, and NV are in the winner's bracket. I don't know if PA and TX has enough pitching to hold down IL and NV.

That finish was bizarre! I couldn't help but cheer for the kid who allowed all those runs in the top of the 6th only to come back and hit the game winning 2-rbi hit. That would have been devastating had he been their last out along with being the losing pitcher.

That's tough that Nevada and Illinois have to play each other in this round instead of the next. The loser will have to play 3 games in 3 days and when pitch count takes such an effect, it makes it tough to come back without a major depth of pitchers. Teams have done it before, though. I wouldn't be surprised if the International championship ended up being a rematch between Japan and Venezuela.

Nevada cleaned their clocks. It wasn't close. Chewed up two of Chicago's pitchers as if they were mere Little League dudes.
