It truly is pathetic to turn on a Yanks game and see the stadium as full as a fucking Marlins game. It is even worse to see that against the Sox. What a joke.

This link says the Yankees are still second pulling in 44K+ a game, but holy hell, they dress like seats.

There is no way there is 44K there.

There was a 2.5 hour rain delay. Most would leave after that.

For a Yanks/Sox game? Aren't those the premier games?Willie wrote:There was a 2.5 hour rain delay. Most would leave after that.

Yeah but when a game starts at 9:30 ET on a Monday, there's bound to be a bunch of empty seats.

All I ever hear out here from East Coast transplants, especially NYers, are how bad the fans are here, and how great the fans are in NY.
If the fans are so damn good in NY, they would stay for a Yankee-Red Sox game.

I'm no fan of NY - but I don't blame anyone for leaving. It's damp and not that warm.dbackjon wrote:All I ever hear out here from East Coast transplants, especially NYers, are how bad the fans are here, and how great the fans are in NY.

to be fair... its likely lots of the fans had kids with them and on a school nite u cant justify keeping them out til well past midnite.dbackjon wrote:All I ever hear out here from East Coast transplants, especially NYers, are how bad the fans are here, and how great the fans are in NY.

if this game was 6 weeks from now, the stands wouldnt have emptied out with the rain delay

the man is the biggest reason I hate the sawks... and boston sports generally
btw... I don't care how long the delay is... I've been waiting 27 years for an outdoor game... i'd sit through snow, sleet, a thunderstorm, whatever... it's all better than staring up at teflon sky.

I don't understand why Minnesota ever built an indoor stadium. The spring/summer/fall weather is acceptable for baseball - so there is no reason to build an indoor stadium just for baseball.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:BS=ECBUNHWildCats wrote: Leave Bill Simmons out of this![]()

The Vikings used to have a great home field advantage in football when they played outdoors - just ask any member of the old Los Angeles Rams.

The Yankees dug their own grave with the fans. They are ripping them off with overpriced tickets and salaries and subpar performance. As they said on the broadcast, Boston is glad they didn't land Teixeira. I don't like either team, but I loathe the Yanks, go I'm smilin

Re: I know there are enough Red Sox/Yankee threads but
So a few thoughts on this:
1. It was raining and crappy all day in NY. At game time the temperature was about 50 and it was windy. That's not very conducive to a pleasant game watching experience, let alone one where you have already waited 2.5 hours for a rain delay.
2. I went to the Yanks-Angels game on Saturday. In the old stadium there were never empty seats and the reason was that every single person in the stadium was sitting in their seats. You couldn't see the game unless you were in your seat. If you wanted a beer you would run out in between innings and run right back to your seat. The new stadium is completely different. You can see the game from every single point in the stadium. I watched an entire innning from beer stand. There are thousands of people just wandering around watching the game. Have tickets in the nose bleeds? No problem, you can stand behind homeplate in the 100 level and watch the entire game if you want to.
The stadium is so new to us and so different from the old one that you find yourself just wanting to walk around and check everything out. I spent 2 hours before the game last week exploring.

Apparently, the Yankees told some fans that the game was rained out - so they left.

Re: I know there are enough Red Sox/Yankee threads but
I understand about the weather. I was just thinking that the Vikes made it to four Superbowls when they played outdoors - and none since moving indoors. Of course, a lot of that could be due to talent. The Vikings had some good teams in the 70's.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:eh... i disagree with keeping the vikings outdoors... it can be miserable here in winter...BlueHen86 wrote:
