in America, being a person of color is synonymous with being poor, and being poor is synonymous with being a criminal. Ironically, this misperception is true even among the poor.

The U.S. Census Report finds that 50 million Americans are poor. Fifty million voters is a powerful block if they ever organized in an effort to pursue their common economic goals. So, it’s crucial that those in the wealthiest One Percent keep the poor fractured by distracting them with emotional issues like immigration, abortion and gun control so they never stop to wonder how they got so screwed over for so long.

The parents of Michael Brown have been pleading the public to not loot, destroy property, or cause trouble during the protests.

The father of Michael Brown wore a "No Justice, No Peace" shirt yesterday.

I don't think the majority of these 50 million voters spend their time watching Fox, CNN, or any other "news" outlet and likely don't have subscriptions to Time magazine. I also don't believe our nation has been as intentionally fragmented on racial and economic lines as we have become over the last few years. This administration made it a huge deal in the Romney election and continues to fan the flames.

That may be. But a white man having something worth killing over isn't a crime. Or hardly a statistic. Food is worth killing over. Money. Clothes. Drugs. A Women.

The the data (and your post) still shows that blacks kill more whites than whites kill blacks. :dunce:
Nobody said it was. Non sequitur.

Same concept as taxes - doesn't make much sense to tax the ones that don't have anything. :coffee:

I'm going to start posting one silly negro quote per day while the protesting continues:
But protester Lisha Williams challenged the notion that protesters provoked officers.

"That is a lie. It was no fight, it was no shots fired," she told CNN late Sunday night. "All we did was march to the command center to fall to our knees and say, 'Don't shoot.' And they started shooting."
Analysis: Police fired no shots yesterday, so that is factually incorrect. Second, if you don't want police to react to something, it's probably best not to organize a mob and rush directly at their command center.

According to the preliminary results of the family autopsy, the bullets that struck Brown were not fired from close range, as indicated by the absence of gunpowder residue on his body.
One of the bullets shattered his right eye, traveled through his face, exited his jaw and re-entered his collarbone, according to the autopsy.
The last two shots were probably the ones to his head, attorney Gray said. One entered the top of his Brown's skull, suggesting his head was bent forward when he was struck.

Don't be obtuse. There is a huge difference between minor spelling & grammatical errors, and the intentional use of slang (ex. I typed "gonna" on purpose), and trying to type "warrant" and have it come out as "Lawrence".

Sure, not every single member of the Black Community is out there doing that. Probably not even majority. But it's very reasonable to describe what's going on as a Black Community response.
JSO, it IS a big deal to unfairly lose your life, if that is what happened. And that is what the community believes happened. Regardless of what a douchebag this kid was. He should have been placed in jail, but not killed, for what he did. If he assaulted the police officer as was reported, he should have been roughly arrested, but not killed.

When people do bad things, they are either one of two types of people:
1. A good person that did a bad thing, or
2. A bad person that did a bad thing.

Brown was one of two of those things because video evidence proves it. Maybe he added to it by blocking traffic deliberately by walking down the middle of the street and assaulting an officer, but the punishment should not be death. The only way a shooting is justified is if, AT THE TIME OF THE SHOOTING, the officer felt his life was in danger. At that point, the assailant puts his life at risk. We will have to see the results from the investigation to determine if that is the case.
You can only say that if you know what happened.

That's what I get for deleting a sentence and not catching it when I re-read it.

Besides, BDK was getting bent out of shape about proofreading when he fails to do so, not I.
