Why is anyone shocked? :suspicious:

We're bombing and killing their people...they are incapable of sending Stealth bombers over here to kill people in a, "clean" fashion...so why are people upset when they attack any of our people within their reach?

Furthermore, I really don't understand why we expect a group of people we are at war with to behave as we behave, and have the same values as we have. It's almost comical to expect that.

They are in it to win, and winning doesn't involve compromising or playing what we consider, "fair."

Obama & Co. love to bomb people while counting anyone killed as an enemy combatant. It is a much more....what?...upscale and nice way to kill people? You know, blowing off arms, legs, or a head with a bomb is more user friendly than cutting of someone's head with a knife.

In the end, it is too bad any American is over there to be killed. But WTF is anyone thinking when they go over there? Seriously? Reporters seem to be coached, or have some disillusion that they are immune to being targeted, as if it is some God given right for them to flit around in a battle zone filming deaths and telling stories (often biased) while getting a free pass from the reality of the situation. :dunce:

Dude paid the ultimate price for wanting to get a story...then gets filmed saying his situation is America's fault.

Me too. I can't find the video of this one though. I don't want to watch it, but feel compelled to. I know it will make me disturbed like the Pearl video.

A British national reportedly did the beheading. I think Cameron has a slightly bigger mess to clean up than Obama.

Obushma returns to his vacation. :coffee:

If Obomba made a big deal about a single American dying in Iraq at the same time Obomba is killing hundreds of Iraqis in Iraq, it would make our fearless leader look stupid.

Plus, he can't take everyone's focus off Ferguson, so who cares if a White American died.

Besides, was this reporter friendly to Obushma's administration?

Really? A country's leader is actually responsible for the actions and atrocities committed overseas by every single one of his countryman? :suspicious:

If so, then WTF is Obushma doing going back on vacation? We've got morons and goons doing bad things all over the place...manty under Executive orders.

"ISIL speaks for no religion," Obama said, using an alternative name for the Islamic State. "Their victims are overwhelmingly Muslim, and no faith teaches people to massacre innocents. No just god would stand for what they did yesterday and what they do every single day."

:suspicious:

What just God would stand for us staying in Afghanistan?

What just God would stand for us bombing Libya?

What just God would stand for us doing what we do every day?

Yup. I'm not a war historian, but I'd have to believe Korea was the last conflict that had what we consider conventional warfare. Once folks around the world saw how we can't deal with a different kind of ugly war, it was over for conventional warfare, unless China or Russia decides to go at it with us.

As I said in another thread: Kill the snake.

It'll be harder to effectively kill it now because we missed the opportunity to inflict very numerous casualties while the group was moving across open desert and not expecting to be attacked from the air. But it still needs to be killed or at least beaten down to the greatest extent possible.

I also think it's wrong headed to think that if we weren't doing certain things we wouldn't have a problem with these people. Islam was founded by a Warlord who ordered his followers to conquer the rest of the world and force everybody to submit to Islam. And his followers have been attempting to do that to varying extents and with varying intensities for over 1300 years now. They're not going to stop and, ultimately, they are not going to be at peace with the idea that the entire world has not submitted to Islam. Not going to happen.

We could become totally isolationists tomorrow, withdraw our military from all foreign soil, and give up all of our international business interests. All that would mean is that people like those in ISIS would grow stronger and be at our doorstep telling us to submit or die some day. That'd be some time after they committed genocide against the Jews in Israel because we were no longer supporting them.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

I watched the Nick Berg beheading and that was enough for me! Wow WEEE that sucked!!!

#1. The latest dude beheaded was already abducted once in Libya. Bro! THAT'S YOUR SIGN! Change your line of work. Become less adventurous. Satisfy your intellectual curiosity by reading OTHER peoples' warzone blogs. Anything, but DON'T GO TO FUCKING SYRIA NEXT!!!

#2. We make terrorists faster than we are killing them. So the only logical conclusion: let's start killing them faster! It's the only way to keep up!!

All I know is that right now we have a lot of really bad actors out in the open and we should be blotting out the sun with bombers, drones, cruise missiles, you name it.

5-10 years from now we'll be pointing fingers over who missed out on killing the next Bin Laden, while right now he's in Iraq, waving an ISIS flag and smiling fir the cameras.

And Andy, re. the Gorilla... there is so much going wrong in the world right now under this clueless administration...

...what's another beheading at this point? People are so desensitized to this planet right now that it barely registers. Sadly.

Can it be done with airpower alone? (ncluding the aforementioned drones, missiles, etc)

We inserted a couple hundred "advisors" a few weeks back. Those were likely the special operators with the sat com and such, calling in the intel and controlling the strikes. You aren't going to get many more boots on the ground than that from this president. Afghanistan was his showcase and they outlasted him.

But will that be enough? I don't really want troops on the ground, but weaken ISIS enough so the Kurds, Iraqi Army and Assad can wipe them out.
