All Eastern has to do defensively this season is muster up the occasional defensive stand and the odd turnover here and there and - Doh! - look at the scoreboard, they're up by 21

Hey, they were impressive physical specimens and they were wide open a lot. Can't tell if they can catch because the QB couldn't hit them.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:JohnStOnge wrote:

Just stop talking.
Look, as the announcers said they've got a bunch of transfers. I looked it up and they've got six "Big 5" transfers at that one position. All I said is that I'm not sure EWU has better wide receivers than Sam Houston State does. And I'm not. Anybody who thinks they ARE sure is kind of leaping to conclusions too as there is no way to know how good Sam Houston State's receivers are at this point.
All we know is that we saw them running wide open a lot and Sam Houston State's quarterback missing them badly a lot.

True. Eastern's receivers were wide open a lot as well, though. To the point where SHSU's secondary had to either hold them or straight tackle them to prevent a TD. The timing was off and there were some dropped balls in the first half, but most of the time our recievers were beating their db's off the line - badly.JohnStOnge wrote:Hey, they were impressive physical specimens and they were wide open a lot. Pretty much. EWU is really the only team worth a hill of beans. You've been riding their jock for several years.Grizalltheway wrote:89Hen wrote: Snooze is set for 2015. Tougher to make from real conferences.![]()

No, but I'm sure Delaware had theirs on the way up after the first half against EWU.89Hen wrote:Did you hang banners?Grizalltheway wrote:My team has made playoff appearances since 2010. Howza bout yours?

Nobody doubts that the CAA is a deeper conference than the Big Sky...
But the top 2 Big Sky teams pretty much every year are as good as anybody's top teams
I would argue that the Southern always has at least 2 very dangerous teams every year as well
Beyond that, arguing about the CAA is like talking to Delaware fans about Flacco and elite quaterbacks

If you say so. Last 10 playoffs have featured two CAA teams in the semis 6 times. How many times have the Big Sky had two teams in the semis? And before you waste your breath blaming regionalization or number of teams in... CAA teams face each other just as much as BS teams face each other. Last year Montana and SUU were in the oppposite bracket as EWU/NAU. CAA only got three bids and two of their teams had to face off in the round of 16. Matter of fact, NDSU was the only non-conference team to beat a CAA team in the playoffs. Shit, I'm pretty sure that EWU was the ONLY Big Sky team to win a playoff game last year.Chizzang wrote:Nobody doubts that the CAA is a deeper conference than the Big Sky...

True statement. What you fail to mention about regionalization, though, is that the Big Sky, Southland, and MVFC don't get to play the St Francis's of the world in the first couple of rounds. Or in the regular season for that matter. The top couple of teams in the BSC can generally play with anyone in the FCS most years. EWU is 2-1 in the playoffs versus the CAA, and had they not completely shit the bed during the last minute of the semi's last season they'd be 3-0. The teams match up well, there is no huge gap in talent levels as you people suggest.89Hen wrote:If you say so. Last 10 playoffs have featured two CAA teams in the semis 6 times. I remember back in 2010 when you called EWU a flash in the pan. Meanwhile, we've been back to the semi's twice since then while UD hasn't even made the playoffs.89Hen wrote:Snooze is set for 2015. Tougher to make from real conferences.Grizalltheway wrote:

Ranger, I gave you guys props, but beyond EWU, there's not much for your conference mates to hang their collective hats.EWURanger wrote:True statement. On your first point, Montana gets to sit at home every year and have a team travel halfway across the country to come play in what I hear is a very cold and loud place. They get teams like Coastal Carolina and their lily white and teal asses to come in and beat them for their first playoff win against anybody not named Bethune-Cookman.
Last couple years, some of the first round games: Robert Morris @ NDSU, Lehigh @ Nothern Iowa (loss for MVFC), Stony Brook @ SHSU, Wagner @ EWU, Stony Brook @ Montana State...
