Montana is still waiting for it's phone call. Line must be busy or something...I'm sure they're calling...

Vacate all your wins the past 50 years, kill your coach, send the offender to prison, clean house of all staff linked to the case, lose postseason eligibility during this entire phase, and then they'll be glad to take your call. :thumb:

It's simple, really.

Penn State's sanctions were rather flailing & kneejerk. They had to vacate something like 15 years worth of wins even though most all of them were after Sandusky retired as defensive coordinator. I know the NCAA has a rather broad (& seldom used) "morals clause" or whatever, but the Sandusky issue really was really a matter for civil & criminal court & outside (or should be outside, IMO) the NCAA's purview.

The Montana sanctions were totally unrelated, seeing as the sexual assault scandal (if there even was one) had nothing to do—and was not mentioned—with the NCAA penalties. You could argue UM's sanctions were too harsh (I'm personally on the fence there), but the Penn State thing is irrelevant to that issue.

Well, they're going bowling... MAYBE.

They stay home if they go 5-7....

Penn State probably won't be able to afford to go bowling. The Big Ten financial penalties are still in place. That means that any bowl revenue will be donated to child abuse prevention charities. All expenses related to travel, hotels, food, etc. would be incurred by Penn State and none of the revenue would reach Penn State.

Very suspicious timing. On the year when the B1G's guarantee of the Rose Bowl disappears and on the week after the whole league takes a beatdown.

Still, the sanctions were kneejerk never should've been that severe. Just example of people losing all common sense whenever it comes to anything related to wrongdoings against children.

This has been in the works for a while. More coincidental than suspicious.

I don't think they could afford not to go. Can you imagine all the bad press if they do decline? Besides, they have so much money in that program, they can afford it.

I'm not really sure why you think there is "so much money in that program." The athletic department's finances are in dire straits right now. If not prohibited from doing so by the NCAA, the AD would be cutting non-revenue programs right and left.

OK, you've addressed revenues. What about expenses?

So what are their expenses?

Being an FCS fan I can't imagine having 100 million in revenue to play with...

Let alone not being able to cover expenses with 100 million

The top football programs spend about 20-35 million a year according to Forbes 2013 article.
