We play defense. You really think either of these teams would have put up 50 on NDSU, or held them to 22?
Doesn't and won't matter when you're playing an offense like EWU's. Pretty sure we lit up the Griz "D" last year too.
We wouldn't put up 50 on the Bison, but we'd put up 35-42. NDSU's offense isn't anything special, but they get a lot of opportunities to grind down opponents because of how good their D is. They're great at stuffing the run, creating pressure, and swarming to the ball, but they also haven't faced an offense that can spread them out like EWU's can with the dual threat of VA, an excellent RB in Forte, and of course the speed and depth we have at WR.
But like Ranger said, this isn't about EWU or MSU vs NDSU right now. It's about EWU and MSU vs the Griz. I don't know about MSU because the Cats love pissing themselves vs Montana, but the Griz don't have the firepower to hang with EWU's offense.

No, I don't. But I do know we've scored at least 52 points against all three DI opponents we've played. One of those against a 4-0 Pac 12 team. In UW's 3 other games against FBS competition, they've only given up 16 (Hawaii), 19 (Illinois), and 14 (Georgia State). One could make an argument that Washington plays defense too, with the exception of the 52 points we laid on them.
NDSU is without a doubt a very good defensive team. Their offense is nothing to write home about, and neither is UM's, so I'm not reading too much into that game.
IMO, Montana will most likely need to score 40+ on us to beat us when we play.

And, like I've said, your D couldn't stop a little old lady in a wheelchair. I don't foresee scoring 40 against it being a problem.

Very true...but a pro-style, run-first offense as run by Montana's current personnel and coaches will not be enough to keep up with EWU on the scoreboard. To be honest, your best option might just be to let Johnson let' er rip and see what happens.
But yeah, in terms of what I've seen so far, if I had to make a bet today I'd definitely be putting my money on both EWU and MSU beating the Griz this year. I think MSU is most likely the 2nd team in the playoffs from the BSC in 2014.

It is when your offense sucks as bad as the Grizzlies'.

You guys are giving up 249 rushing ypg and 5.5 ypc—I like UM's chances to score 40+ points on EWU regardless of the style.

It was a heart breaking game for Bobcat fans, that is for sure. I came away from the game feeling very good about the Cats chances this year. I don't see many teams that can keep up with our weapons on Offense, and our D can only get better. The way our schedule works out, we could be undefeated in league play going into the CAT/griz game. A Lot of football to play this year, but I like our chances WAY more than I did a week ago...
And FYI...There are no moral victories in sports, UM played NDSU and LOST. The Cats played EWU and LOST.

USD's defense is better than EWU's.

No doubt, but we'd still score a ton of points on them, too. When you are averaging over 50 points a game, it's not a coincidence. This EWU offense may be even more potent that last year's. I think the biggest difference may be in the Offensive Line, which I was not expecting.

True. But I'm still proud that we managed to hang with a very tough team in their house.
I agree, I really did think both the Cats and the griz would end up losing by more than they did. And according to E-griz the griz and the Seahawks are pretty much the same team....So I wouldn't worry about anyone you play this year, you know, until you get to the playoffs against Andrew Luck, or Payton Manning in the Super bowl.
Hey, that's as bad as claiming your team is the "greatest we've ever had" after giving up 457 yards/game, like somebody's fanbase has been blabbering on about
...well, ok it's worse. But they're both pretty stupid!

Well, we rolled the last greatest team they've ever had by 26 in Bozeman, so I like the sound of that.

No, The last "greatest team we ever had" beat you at home two years ago. This "Greatest team we ever had" has played two Tecmo Bowl type offenses this year, and lost those two games by a combined score of >Cats. I don't see another team being able to keep up with us if we can score more points than them, when we play said team. I look at our schedule and NONE (including the mighty Seagriz) can beat us if we do the following
1) Keep them from scoring
2) Sack the QB every time he touches the ball
3) Score more points in a given 60 minutes of play in any given game on a Saturday.

It's science...
God you're a homer. Take off the blinders...remove the blue and gold tinted glasses...what color is the sky on your planet...
