M*A*S*H Star David Ogden Stiers: "I'm Gay"

Post by UNHWildCats »

LOS ANGELES - David Ogden Stiers, the actor who is best known for playing Major Charles Winchester on TV’s “M*A*S*H,” has come out.

“I am (gay),” the 66-year-old actor said in an interview with the blog Gossip-Boy.com. “Very proud to be so.”

Ogden Stiers revealed that his recent successful career as a voice actor caused him to remain closeted for so many years.

That's too bad. He was a great actor. :geek:
"Sarah Palin absolutely blew AWAY the audience tonight. If there was any doubt as to whether she was savvy enough, tough enough or smart enough to carry the mantle of Vice President, she put those fears to rest tonight. She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain."

I find it interesting that he is proud of something that he concealed for 66 years.

It is more a sense of finally coming to peace with your true self, and being in a place where you feel safe in letting others know.

While it is not that big of a deal for many today, it would have been fatal to his career years ago.

esp. for a guy who was getting a ton of work in animated features...

he wouldn't get those roles if the studios faced even the threat of boycott from one of those right wing groups (because a child hearing the voice of a gay man will "turn them gay"... yeesh)

So, basically, they wait until they don't HAVE a career, and then come out? I thought it was fashionable to be gay in Hollywood these days?
