2014-15 NBA Season Thread
Kevin Durant is having surgery on his little piggy.
Loveless Timberwolves cancel practice to attend a Vikings game together. Lots of hope in the Twin Cities with this young bunch of kids.
Kobe will probably pass Michael Jordan on the all-time scoring list. He needs 593 points to pass Jordan and become #3 all-time. Needs 5229 to time to pass Karl Malone for #3, very doubtful that will ever happen, and 6688 to pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for #1.
Cleveland will be favored in the LEast and San Antonio will be either too old or favored in the (W)best or both.

On a smaller injury note than Durant, the Wiz lost Bradley Beal for 6 -8 weeks due to a fractured left wrist. He was their 2nd leading scorer last year and averaged 35 minutes per game in his 2nd year in the league. Too bad because they were starting to show some promise after years of being a bad team. Hopefully he can come back in December and help them out. Better left than right wrist I guess.

What did the Wiz fans think of Flip Saunders when he was there? He's a hometown hero in Minny.tribe_pride wrote:On a smaller injury note than Durant, the Wiz lost Bradley Beal for 6 -8 weeks due to a fractured left wrist. Don't remember but they were absolutely horrible when he was in DC so can't imagine much good even if it was not his fault (not sure either way)Gil Dobie wrote:What did the Wiz fans think of Flip Saunders when he was there? Using it as a "business meeting" with a couple clients of ours.Gil Dobie wrote:Good first matchup of the top draft picks.clenz wrote:Going to the Minnesota/Milwaukee game on Friday
Our company is good with it. They let us take clients/potential clients to minor league baseball, hockey, indoor football, etc... all the time. Show them a good time, keep them happy, get their business.
Company buys the tickets, food, beer, etc... Typically they'll get a suite if available.
No suite this week but we are in row c of the lower level.
Here's an artist rendering of it set up for basketball.

We'll be free throw line on the right side, just off the floor

Did the Sixers find out which lottery pick they're getting yet?

Hoping for big things from my Clips this year.
Also, because of the number of Bulls fans that surround me...hope they do well too.
I really would like the T-Wolves to do well as they'd be a natural fit for me to follow with the Twins and Vikings....call me a front runner, but I can't bring myself to follow them and their complete ineptitude right now.

I can follow a "loser" but I'm not going to fully switch my allegiances until they show signs of life.DSUrocks07 wrote:The Wolves are gonna be a fun team to watch this season.clenz wrote:Hoping for big things from my Clips this year.

I've been a Clippers fan for 20 years (1994...I was 6). The Clippers, Hornets, and Supersonics were my teams growing up. Well, both of them went away and I didn't follow them....and the players I like were no longer around (Detlif, Kemp, GP, Perkins, Hersey, Askew, McMillan in Seattle and Muggsy, Dell Curry, Hersy (played for both in the mid 90s), LJ, Zo, Perish (at the end of his career), Gill in Charlotte...man it's amazing I still remember all those names without looking since I was 6-9 years old at that time).
The Clippers just kept getting players I liked watching, even though they sucked.
Barry, Piatowski, Darius Miles, Q-Rich, Olowokandi Brand, etc...
They are good now, and the years of suffering are paying off but no one believes I've been a Clipper fan since 1994 because of where I grew up.
If the Wolves can be a fun to team to watch and the ownership can show that they have interest in actually being better I'll buy in. I've been to two NBA games in my life - both T-wolves games.

Heat fan since pretty much their inception (in 1989 I was 3) Rony Seikaly was my favorite player for awhile then him and Hardaway for a couple seasons before Rony was traded away. Living out of market made it difficult but during their run in the mid to late 90s when Zo came on board and we were battling the Knicks in the playoffs their games were carried on NBA on NBC nationally. Since I lived in Delaware I followed the 76ers for awhile too went to a couple games growing up, jumped on the AI bandwagon and all that. But Miami is my heart and always will be. Looking forward to this season for sure win or lose. Sometimes its more fun that way without the expectations weighing your fandom down.

T-Wolves should be fun to watch. Old-school Lakers fan, but I live in Minnesota and go to a few games here and there. Last game I went to was Kevin Love's 30 pt 30 rebound game. Used split season tickets in the 1990's. Got to see Jordan, Shaq, Magic all play. One of the best games I remember was when 7'3" Randy Breuer guarded Magic Johnson at the top of the key. I spoke with Breuer a couple years ago, and before the game Breuer told Magic to wait and see what we have planned for you. When Magic dribbled up the first time, Breuer said he looked at him with a funny look and said "Really". The plan worked for a while, until the Lakers figured it out. Breuer said his feet were all bloody after that game.

Wolves take the Griz to the wire, but lose. Thad Young replaces Love and gets 26 points.

Wolves win the first home game of Flip Saunders II. Flip has won his last 10 home openers according to one report. Young is going to be a good replacement for Love.

Since the Sixers are in full tank mode, I expect the bench players to get plenty of run tonight

Well, I became a Cleveland Cavs fan over the weekend, as they signed Will Cherry to a contract and waived AJ Price.
