Thanks for making my point, Travis. 14 states now allow some form of "civil union". Loudly braying each time another state comes over to your way of thinking is like continuing to count the number of black head coaches in the NFL, or # of black head coaches in major college baskeball. It's rapidly approaching a non-story.

Taking a while to load.

Oregon and Washington, while having a limited DP, are not even at the same level as Civil Unions.

Another color might be good for states that will recognize marriages from other jurisdictions.

When it is legal in all 50 states, it will be a non-story. Until then, advances are important to some of us...

I understand it's important, Jon, but rubbing it in the faces of the "non-supporters" each time another wall is breached just seems pretty juvenile. And remember, I'm a supporter.

And you and I both know, it'll NEVER be legal in all 50 states, unless it's a constitiutional amendment.

The SCOTUS could someday rule denying marriage to same sex couples is unconstitutional, so to say it wont happen without a ammendment is wrong....

As an Episcopalian Christian, free-thinking independent, I firmly believe God did indeed bless the marriage of one man and one woman, to love each other and procreate the Earth and to help each other BUT!!!!!!!!, if you've ever read the Bible, and I have from Genesis 1-Revelation 22 and all in between, the only denunciation of homosexuality comes from St.Paul in the book of Romans and it is indeed a short area. There were even rumors that King David and Jonathan, Saul's son, were lovers.

So while I personally am not sexually attracted to males, I still don't see where the right wing evangelical crowd feels so threatened by gay marriage. As a 34 year old male still searching for the love of his life, I applaud those within the gay community who have indeed found true love. Hey, same sex or not, they're doing better than me and they aren't alone. True love is so rare that when one finds it, it should be promoted and cherished without backlash. Jesus himself never mentions homosexuality yet warns of committing adultery in one's own heart which has been interpreted in so many ways.

Bottom line, the evangelical right wingers can have their little protests and call it "worthy for HIM" to be arrested in the streets while they pray(what happened to Jesus's command of going into the closet to pray instead of being noticed...hmmm), but gay marriage is not and will not ever be a threat to those of us who see it as simply 2 people, in love, joined together for life.

Simple as that. Peace.

OK. Fine. That's another avenue. But while it remains a states' rights issue, it'll never happen in all 50.

that isn't correct since RI does recognize same sex marriage. And it was changed from earlier when I got my information so I find that odd.

Once again, I'd like to see the voters in each state VOTE on this. Then that map will most likely be white once again for the most part.

This looks like something that Homeland Security would create.

It's nice to know that the Same Sex Marriage alert level for Pennsylvania is yellow. I'll have to go out and by more duct tape.

Is there any particular reason voters should have to vote? I have not seen one valid reason aside from religious beliefs (which as I recall cannot be made a law), that ssm should not be legal. One valid reason it should be legal. Equal rights.

I agree - this is not a voter issue. This is an equal rights issue, there is too much ignorance and hate to let voters decide any equal rights issue.

Once again, if the gov't came in and said you can't bang a woman, you'd cry out for injustice. NOTHING BAD WILL HAPPEN IF TWO DUDES MARRY!

Think about the money that will flow from the increase in wedding receptions.

go back and read the first post... it says the blue represents states that offer civil unions... but as Jon pointed out some of those states dont offer exactly what others do, so I do need to rework the coloring more.
