Dallas is legit because they finally figured out how to do things the right way this year. They're not making Tony Romo win games by himself every week, but instead they put together a decent O-Line, they're giving the ball to DeMarco Murray, and they're making sure no-one on their staff has the last name "Ryan."
This is pretty accurate.

They are controlling TOP - third in the league in average length of drive (2:56 and just 3 seconds off of first), second in the league in points per possession at 2.5, 6th in the league in average yards per drive, 12th in the league in plays per drive (made up for by the TOP), score on 44% of their drives, 7th most yards gained, 5th in yards per play, ...all while running the 14th fewest offensive plays in the league. All of that allows Dallas to hide that defense a bit.

They can do all of that because of the use of Murray and not forcing Romo to throw a ton of passes. Romo gets more blame that he deserves but has been solid his whole career. He's never really had a good run game behind him so he's had to throw the ball 500+ times in a season in 5 of his 7 seasons where he started at least 14 games. This season he threw only 435 passes, but completed a career high 69.9% of them, for 34 TDs (2 behind his best of 36 in a season he threw 520 passes), by far his hightest TD% rate, fewest picks in a season, best YPA in his career, by far his best rating and QBR of his career

Will they do well in the playoffs, I have no idea. But to down play what they Cowboys did this year would be stupid.
They're all offense, no defense. I don't like their chances against a team that has a great defense and a good enough offense to score 4-5 times. :coffee:  :dunce:

It is isn't it. I actually think this is what 99.99999999% of FCS fans said here, and AGS, the last couple years with EWU...especially the last two...and SE was one of the leaders in calling those people names and throwing shit fits about it...

EWU: BEST OFFENSE EVER...NO ONE CAN SLOW IT DOWN...DEFENSE DOESN'T MATTER

Dallas: Their defense sucks...any team that can stop them once or twice in a game and score a couple points will crush them!!!!!!!!

Only because the Cowboys won.

Had Seattle won that game you know he'd be trumpeting that score non-stop

And Dallas can't stop the pass. That's a potentially big problem against Green Bay.
The Cowboys are in the upper half in efficiency D, so your argument doesn't really hold up.

If you can look at their defense and say, "yup, that's a good defense right there" then there's no hope for this discussion. They cowboys have won in spite of their defense and will be hard pressed to cover up that defense the deeper they get in the playoffs. The biggest boon their offense has had this year in terms of running the ball and keeping the ball is that it has limited that porous defense from being on the field.

I hope the Cowboys are having the same thoughts about how they will stack up against Green Bay. Seems to me they have to play Detroit 1st in Dallas where Dallas is only 4 - 4 and Detroit has a decent defense and an offense that can also put up some points.....Especially indoors!

In the last four games Dallas has not allowed a receiver to reach 100 yards. So maybe not the best defense all year long but peaking at the right time, perhaps? :coffee:

They don't have to be "good," they just have to be adequate. We've seen many times over the years that a team with a great offense & an average defense can win a championship—pretty much all the Super Bowl teams from the '90s fit that mold, really. Seattle is basically the same thing, just in reverse.

Yeah...

except my tone hasn't changed on anything.

EWU had a shitty defense...not even a serviceable defense...a shitty defense. I (and many others) said all seasons that it would cost EWU their chance at a title. It's great to brag about scoring 59 points, but at some point giving up 56 per game is going to cost you - especially against someone is going to stop you from scoring 59. They don't even have to keep you from getting to 30...just from getting to 55. EWU fans (especially you) kept telling all of us we were full of shit all season long and calling us names and using curse word after curse word about it.

I believe Dallas won't win the title because I don't completely trust their defense, but their offense is built to save their defense from giving up a ton of yards and points - unlike EWU. EWU was built entirely on outscoring people. Dallas is built on controlling the clock and keeping the defense off the field. The Dallas defense is 8th in the NFL in fewest yards given up per game. They give up 22 points per game - which is top half of the NFL and just .9 points from being 9th. Their pass defense is bad. 26th in the NFL, giving up 67% completion %, etc... That likely costs them a Super Bowl.

I'm actually quite consistent on this.

It's you that isn't.

EWU - defense doesn't matter.
Dallas - their defense sucks and they can't win because of it.

Nice try, but the post you quoted actually helps my point - not yours.

IMO, Dallas matches up the best with seattle so it should be a very interesting game if it comes down to that. Something to note though is that Dallas had one of the worst SoS's in the league, so beating Detroit would help prove that they are the powerhouse people think they are.

For this weekend, I am taking the Panthers, Cowboys, Bengals, and Ravens.

Except that it doesn't.

You can try to twist what I've said all you want if that makes you feel better, and I know it does because you are one hell of a pretentious, prattling prick.

Is EWU's defense good? No; they give up a lot of yards and points. But they do get a fair amount of turnovers, and as long as our offense doesn't turn the ball over, Eastern will have a chance to win almost every game they play. Against ISU, that clearly didn't happen, we we're -3. Before that game, ISU was +0 or so on the season, and EWU was +11, which was top 10ish at that point. Back in 2010 when EWU won it all, we were top 3 in turnover margin. We didn't protect the ball against ISU and came out flat on offense, and ISU did a great job of not turning it over, it is what is. EWU will rely on outscoring its opponents and getting the ball off them, other teams will try to grind it out.

And you will always be a pathetic douche, but the world will go on. :coffee:
