The Bronco's lay an egg...

Post by Chizzang »

That VERY expensive Bronco's defense did not live up to its price tag:

Terrance Knighton
DeMarcus Ware
Von Miller
Brandon Marshall
Aqib Talib
Chris Harris
T.J. Ward
Rahim Moore

That's an ALL STAR TEAM right there... and a HUGE investment that now looks really stupid

"Egg" isn't a verb....

Take it easy on Cleets, SH. He's likely drunk on white wine spritzers.

Have to believe we just saw Peyton's last game. Not sure why he would come back, he's going to be getting farther and farther (or further, can't ever tell) from that elusive Super Bowl. He's a shadow of what he was.

Only about 2200 yards away from the all time passing mark.

Nearly retired players have came back for less stellar reasons.

Yup.

He only needs 2178 yards to break the record. He's never thrown for less than 3700 yards in a season.

Apparently Manning was playing with a torn right quad yesterday and all of December.

Well not exactly...
But kind of - the Bronco's finished the season with the leagues 16th Ranked defense (Points surrendered)
That's exactly Average - right smack dab in the middle of 32 teams

And they have MANY long term expensive contracts on the defensive side of the ball
and coming free agents on the offensive side of the ball

They have problems
A very expensive but very average Defense
and all their offensive talent walking into free agency

The "Elway Genius" GM thing is not playing out
He sold his soul for an aging QB with a historical .400% playoff winning percentage
and signed a bunch of expensive defensive contracts that now look ridiculous

I was having this conversation yesterday with a buddy about how talented Julian Edelman is. My response…just like Wes Welker was.

I'm not saying the Thomas's aren't really good, but you can contribute a ton of that to Manning. Great passers make everyone one around them look good, perhaps better, than they really are. The weapons are replaceable and if the defense plays to its potential they'd still be a contender.

In Peyton Manning's last two postseason games the Broncos have scored a combined total of 21 points...

Denver defense:
DeMarcus Ware hasn't had a sack or hit on the QB in the last FIVE games
He has 2 more years on his contract and $20 million due

and the list goes on and on...

How do you fire John Fox? I mean, the guy won a playoff game with Tim Tebow.

I watched hardly any regular season NFL games, only the playoffs. 1st time I'd seen Manning play since the Super Bowl. I was wondering if he was hurt, as he definitely didn't look like the Mannjng of old.

Farther involves a measurable, physical distance...further is for figurative distance.

Cluck, you couldn't be further from the truth!

Except (or is it accept?) what I really mean is the exact opposite of that.

As a Charger fan nothing pleased me more than seeing the Donkey's fall flat on their faces after assembling a "now or never" type of roster. Speaking of which, in the NFL can't they just axe some of those players? Or are there certain salary guarantees that will still count against the cap?

Also not sure why they got rid of Fox.

Probably the same stupid reason the Oilers got rid of Warren Moon after 1993.

16th ranked defense? Not according to Football Outsiders. Their defense DVOA was 4th in the league with the 5th best pass D and the 3rd best rush D. Compare that to last year where they had the 15th best defense DVOA and it proves their offseason moves worked out.

And how Fox gets fired while Lewis stays in Cinci I'll never understand. :ohno:

True, and they did only allow 24 points against one of the highest scoring offenses in the league. Denver's biggest issues in that game were having a hobbled Manning who couldn't make passes that he normally would, and the Colts' defense stepping up big time compared to how they played most of the regular season.

Signing bonuses are pro-rated, cap-wise, over length of contract. So if they cut them, all the signing bonus left unaccounted for hits the cap (over one or two years, depending on when they cut them).
