Just goes to show that getting hot at the right time can do wonders for any team.

OSU has been on fire for weeks.

Well, I hesitantly picked Oregon but I thought Ohio State had more talent and they did. They were just physically superior to Oregon and Oregon was lucky it was as "close" as it was. They were just as fast as Oregon but they were also more physical.

The cliche about Oregon being "soft," as I said they looked "soft" on defense against Florida State but it kind of got lost because Florida State stopped itself with turnovers, was validated. They're soft on defense. They can't hold up against a team with a physical running game.

Also I thought Ohio State played a better team than Oregon to get TO the title game and they clearly did. The championship game was really when Ohio State played Alabama.

Well I DID miss the pick. That's the bottom line.

But I'm glad Ohio State won. I can't stand Oregon's crap with the flashy uniforms and the smoke and mirrors system and such. Gimmick. Gimmick. Gimmick nonsense.

Tonight showed that all that's fine until you run into somebody that just has better players than you do and is ready to play. It happened against Auburn in their BCS championship appearance. It happened against LSU in the 2011 season opener. And it happened again tonight.

Yeah. And let's not forget that Zek fella ran for 200+ against Bama and Wisconsin as well. He's a great back and no team, from any conference, had an answer for him down the stretch.

Yes I think after watching tonight most would agree that Alabama would've cleaned Oregon's clock as well. I mean think about it. Oregon enjoyed a 4-0 advantage in the turnover margin while the game was in doubt (Ohio State got a interception on the game's last play) and the Ducks STILL lost by 22 points. Alabama would've ground them into sawdust.

What happened is that they got to play a team, Florida State, that wasn't even ranked in the top 10 in the better power ratings. THEN Florida State turned the ball over five times.

They got exposed BIG time tonight.

I will say this: Oregon stopped itself a couple of times with dropped passes before Ohio State figured them out. If they hadn't done that they might have had SOME shot. But they didn't make hay while Ohio State was having problems with their offense. Then Ohio State's coaching staff apparently figured out what to do. Oregon should have scored more in the first quarter while Ohio State's defense was still having problems.

At the same time, Ohio State hurt itself even more. Of the four Ohio State turnovers I would consider one of them "forced" by the Oregon defense. The others were just Ohio State dropping the ball without being touched.

In the meantime, SEC fans dont even make the title game, and they're still insufferable gloating over Oregon's loss. :ohno:

They had the depth chart, but it was as much about preparation and coaching, than talent. Anytime Urban is on the sideline, anything can happen.

Urban is definitely the real deal, no doubt about that. Should be fun to watch him square off against Harbaugh.

In one sense they did. I think it's very reasonable to say that the national title was decided when Ohio State played Alabama. Had it been Alabama vs. Oregon and Ohio State vs. Florida State in the first round I think most would agree it likely would've been Alabama vs. Ohio State for the title. Alabama, I think, would have absolutely pistol whipped Oregon.

There's some truth to that. But, nevertheless, Meyer's two recruiting classes so far have been rated in the #1 to #5 range by Scout and Rivals. I know those are not perfect systems. But I think Ohio State was LOADED with young talent. And good GRIEF. That was their THIRD STRING quarterback. One of the sophomores.

The future is very bright at Ohio State. The 5th highest State in NFL player production and only ONE Big 5 school in it and NOW they just convincingly won a national championship by beating Alabama then crushing the Whiz Bang "look at our uniforms" kids from Oregon.

Better get used to seeing them competing for national titles.
