Well not exactly...
But kind of - the Bronco's finished the season with the leagues 16th Ranked defense (Points surrendered)
That's exactly Average - right smack dab in the middle of 32 teams
And they have MANY long term expensive contracts on the defensive side of the ball
and coming free agents on the offensive side of the ball
They have problems
A very expensive but very average Defense
and all their offensive talent walking into free agency
The "Elway Genius" GM thing is not playing out
He sold his soul for an aging QB with a historical .400% playoff winning percentage
and signed a bunch of expensive defensive contracts that now look ridiculous
16th ranked defense? Not according to Football Outsiders. Their defense DVOA was 4th in the league with the 5th best pass D and the 3rd best rush D. Compare that to last year where they had the 15th best defense DVOA and it proves their offseason moves worked out.
And how Fox gets fired while Lewis stays in Cinci I'll never understand.
I'll stick with NFL.com ranking
(thank you very much)

Probably the same stupid reason the Oilers got rid of Warren Moon after 1993.
Wow...this response borders on SH reference material...
Seriously though, it kinda does.
Hey, now, Warren Moon is bit more current than Joe Ferguson.
From what I understand, the 1993 Oilers were the best example of the "I'm Gonna Break Everything Because My Money Can't Guarantee a Championship!" theory of ownership. They went 2-14 in 1994 & were gone from Houston just three years after that.

Well I turn 30 this month, so anything early 90's or older is SH-esqe to me.

Well, I wasn't paying attention to the NFL at the time (I was 10). I largely know about earlier eras from Wikipedia, old NFL Films stuff that they used to air on ESPN constantly when I was in high school, and watching old, since-deleted episodes of NFL Primetime on youtube.
The sad thing is that I actually get most of SH's football references, despite how randomly ill-applied they often are.
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
