Yep, weakened states like Afghanistan and Yemen have some a terrible job at this. Pakistan, IIRC has been better at it. Then there's Saudi Arabia...LeadBolt wrote:The KKK may or may not be Christians, just as the radical Islamists may or may not be Muslims. The difference is that Christians punish the KKK for their acts of violence against anyone, which leads to a decline in the number of KKK members and associated violence, where Muslims do not punish radical Islamists for their acts of violence, unless those acts are perpetrated vs. Muslims. This has the effect of emboldening the radical Islamists and increases their number and associated violence.

That's an interesting subset you picked.kalm wrote:Yep, weakened states like Afghanistan and Yemen have some a terrible job at this. Pakistan, IIRC has been better at it. Chechnya, eh? Almost forgot about that shithole. Wonder if Vlad's moles stirred the pot there.LeadBolt wrote:Interesting article on Muslim rally against Charlie Hebdo:

Gotta love how our media tells us that radical Islamists are a tiny minority of peaceful Islam, yet that rally drew 800,000 in a country of 1.3 million. 62% of the country was at the rally!LeadBolt wrote:Interesting article on Muslim rally against Charlie Hebdo:

I was skeptical about that number and it turns out, The Independent and Al Jazeera reported 10's of thousands. The Gateway Pundit might not be the best source of information.93henfan wrote:Gotta love how our media tells us that radical Islamists are a tiny minority of peaceful Islam, yet that rally drew 800,000 in a country of 1.3 million. 62% of the country was at the rally!LeadBolt wrote:Interesting article on Muslim rally against Charlie Hebdo:

Man, that was a perfect place to drop a tactical nuke. Opportunity lost.
Al Jazeera. I see.kalm wrote:I was skeptical about that number and it turns out, The Independent and Al Jazeera reported 10's of thousands. The Gateway Pundit might not be the best source of information.93henfan wrote:

Yes, Pakistan has done such a good job that we're over there bombing them almost daily.kalm wrote:Yep, weakened states like Afghanistan and Yemen have some a terrible job at this. Did I say Pakistan has done a good job? It's a powder keg for sure, but Pakistani muslims have punished radical islamists there.Cluck U wrote:Yes, Pakistan has done such a good job that we're over there bombing them almost daily.kalm wrote:

kalm, sometimes you go from amusing to ignorant at frightening speeds.

Care to cite some concrete examples of how Pakistan has done a, "better" than, "terrible" job?kalm wrote:Did I say Pakistan has done a good job? It's a powder keg for sure, but Pakistani muslims have punished radical islamists there.Cluck U wrote:

Better is the word you missed.

Better than Yemen and Afghanistan is all I claimed, and no, you go right ahead. But I do seem to remember the government fighting warlords, Taliban, etc in the tribal regions for quite some time.Cluck U wrote:Care to cite some concrete examples of how Pakistan has done a, "better" than, "terrible" job?kalm wrote:

In the seventh century of the Christian era, a wandering Arab of the lineage of Hagar, the Egyptian, combining the powers of transcendent genius, with the preternatural energy of a fanatic, and the fraudulent spirit of an impostor, proclaimed himself as a messenger from Heaven, and spread desolation and delusion over an extensive portion of the earth. Adopting from the sublime conception of the Mosaic law, the doctrine of one omnipotent God; he connected indissolubly with it, the audacious falsehood, that he was himself his prophet and apostle. Adopting from the new Revelation of Jesus, the faith and hope of immortal life, and of future retribution, he humbled it to the dust, by adapting all the rewards and sanctions of his religion to the gratification of the sexual passion. He poisoned the sources of human felicity at the fountain, by degrading the condition of the female sex, and the allowance of polygamy; and he declared undistinguishing and exterminating war, as a part of his religion, against all the rest of mankind. THE ESSENCE OF HIS DOCTRINE WAS VIOLENCE AND LUST: TO EXALT THE BRUTAL OVER THE SPIRITUAL PART OF HUMAN NATURE.
The precept of the koran is, perpetual war against all who deny, that Mahomet is the prophet of God. The vanquished may purchase their lives, by the payment of tribute; the victorious may be appeased by a false and delusive promise of peace; and the faithful follower of the prophet, may submit to the imperious necessities of defeat: but the command to propagate the Moslem creed by the sword is always obligatory, when it can be made effective. The commands of the prophet may be performed alike, by fraud, or by force (Blunt, 29:274).
