Yep. Sac was supposed to be in the upper tier on the men's side, but definitely not 1st. place. Their women are really making their tough non-conference schedule pay off, though the fact they only play Montana in Missoula may doom them (they also still have to go to Grand Forks).

The Bobcat men were supposed to take a beating this year, but the performance of their women is quite mystifying. They shouldn't be contending or anything, but they've got enough decent players that they should be better than 1-6—especially when you consider that they tend to play better in the first half of conference.

Nobody expected either Sac teams to be doing this well halfway through BSC play. I knew the men would be pretty solid but I didn’t expect this. I don’t know enough about the women’s team so say much other than a few top scorers graduated last year so I figured there would be a bit of a step back. It’s been an entertaining run so far.

We're showing some depth. Venky clearly wasn't 100% and Harvey sat out most of the 2nd half with an injury. Meanwhile, true freshman Bogdan Blysniuk followed up his 24 against UND with 21 and 15 rebounds. Awesome comeback.

Griz were outscored 24-10 in the last 7 minutes. absolutely horrid 7 minutes of basketball. If you can't make a free throw to ice the game, you don't deserve to win. Griz missed TWO in the last 38 seconds.

Collapses are nothing new for Idalol. The last two times the Griz played in Moscow, the Vandals blew a 15-point lead & lost both times.

Hornets dug deep and pulled it off. Hell of a game. It's a damn shame we don't travel to Missoula in the regular season. Hornsby and Demps kept the team in it when Garrity and McKinney were held in check. Great effort.

BTW how does UM not double team McKinney AND Garrity on that final possession?

You mean aside from the fact that would leave one person to guard 3 other people? :?

Also, Garrity had a lousy game going until that shot.

Garrity and McKinney are both clutch. Anyone who knows anything about the current Hornet team knows that is where the ball is going. Regardless of how they were playing up to that point in the game I would want one of those 2 taking the final shot 10 times out of 10 in that type of situation. The outcome of this game just proves that point.

My double teaming McKinney and Garrity comment was TIC but let’s play this out: Tiffin was on the floor so no point in guarding him (although the guy that left Garrity open rotated to cover him so :? ), that leaves either Hornsby or Demps to be covered; both of whom were playing great. Most likely either of those 2 would have not shot a 3 so at worst it’s a tie game assuming they make the bucket. I understand this is a ridiculous scenario but given the outcome can you honestly say you wouldn’t like to see how this would have played out?

I would've liked to see somebody guard Garrity. That was the problem: the Griz defenders gave a guy an open shot in the final seconds. It wouldn't have mattered if not for the comedy of errors down the stretch, but still…

At least Montana didn't have the biggest late-game choke of the day. :?

It was a tale of two halves in the PSU-Sac game. The Hornets had a solid 1st half and lead by 9 at the break. Then PSU came out firing on all cylinders and evened things out. It was a back and forth game until the Hornets edged them out in the final minutes. Some bad FT shooting by the Hornets almost let PSU steal the game. Resilient performance by the Hornets.
