When did the Big Sky become like the Sun Belt?

I just found out that as of this past fall, the Big Sky picked up SUNY-Binghamton and U of Hartford in boys golf. Say what?!? I thought North Dakota was out of our footprint. Sheesh! Who's gonna foot the bill to play these guys?

The good news is that it establishes a precedent that the Big Sky will accept private schools. I'm STILL trying to convince UOP to resurrect the football program in the Big Sky....

There are no head-to-head matches in golf. They play in separate tournaments and come together at the end of the season for a conference tournament. Winner goes to the NCAA tourney. So those two schools will travel to BSC country for the conference tourney. There is no impact on the rest of the conference.

My guess is the Big Sky needed to add somebody to be eligible for the NCAAs, and those two teams needed somewhere to go.

I don't think kind of thing is unusual in the more esoteric NCAA sports. For men's lacrosse, Denver is in the Big East and Air Force is slated to join the SoCon.
