Even if MSU gets by Sac, I really doubt they'll get by NoCo (8-game win streak).

Nothing personal, but I'm hoping Sac beats MSU so they can exhaust UM's potential championship game opponent (if they don't beat said opponent, of course). :D

You're obviously underestimating Saccat's powers here. :coffee:

The Cats have been playing well these last couple weeks, and They played their best overall game against the griz on Saturday. It wasn't just that the griz didn't play that well, I talked to Kellie Rubel's dad (my old High School B-ball coach) and he said that was the best he has seen a team play against the griz this year. He also laughed about coaches coming up to him early on in the season wondering "What happened to your daughter...Is she still on the team"

Lady Hornets roll over MSU 78-62. It was close in the first half but the Hornet took care of business in the 2nd. Hornets won the turnovers 25-7 and hit 17 of 20 from the stripe and held MSU to 26 2nd half points. 4 Hornets scored 11 or more points.

That stat stuck out to me the most. Sac was the worst free throw shooting team in the conference coming in. Also… MSU could outrebound (unmotivated) Montana, but couldn't outrebound Sac? You can't play the Hornets even on the boards & win.

NoCo beat NoDak by 8 in the other game, so they'll play Sac Friday morning. It seems like UND maybe played with more heart than they had in recent weeks, but turnovers killed them.

Points-off-turnovers was the key in these two games; each winning team won that stat by double digits.

Montana holds on to win by 2 after one of the ugliest, most foul-ridden halves ever played. UM didn't make a field goal the first 10:00 of the second half, but still led by double digits at that point thanks to ISU's fouling ways. The Bengals somehow managed to cut it to 4 with under 10 seconds left, then Carly Selvig slipped & fell down trying to inbound it and ISU got a layup to cut it to 2. After a lllooooooooooooonnnngggg series of reviews & timeouts, the refs put 1.8 seconds on the clock and the Lady Griz ran it out.

You should know better than that, Venus. The world's biggest Danny White/Johnny Bench fan is hardly going to look for new results.

W: Lady Hornets fall in OT 81-79 to UNC. Both teams had plenty of chances to win at the end of regulation. A crucial turnover by Hilliard with under 10 seconds to go let UNC tie it and force OT.

The Sac State FB page claims that if UM wins the BSCT, then the Lady Hornets are in the WNIT....

Yep. Montana gets the auto otherwise. EWU & NoCo would have at-large hopes, though probably not great ones.

Montana up 29-18 at the half on EWU.

Eastern made a shot at the buzzer, their only field goal in the last 10:00. Rickman & Valley each have 3 fouls for UM, though.

Montana basketball is yet again about doing the bare minimum to win. EWU trimmed a 16-point deficit down to 4 a few times, but could get no closer as Montana wins 55-51 (I don't think they counted that Nelson trey at the buzzer).

UM vs. NoCo tomorrow at 2:00. A rematch of 2 years ago when UNC was also coming off a tough overtime win in the semis and just couldn't mount enough energy to win in the championship. Sac State fans should root hard for the Lady Griz because their season will be over if Montana loses.

Semifinal Results

  • UNC 81-79 SAC (OT); D'Shara Strange continues her tear with 23 points and 13 rebounds
        • Sac nearly wins despite losing points-off-turnovers for the first time in conference play
Fantasia Hilliard gets 15 points, 6 boards, 9 assists, and 5 steals in possibly her final game

EWU 51-55 UMT; The Eags go 14/15 from the line, but get just 5 assists & lose the glass by 9
        • Eastern made just 1 field goal over a 14+ minute stretch straddling halftime
Kayleigh Valley had 12 points in just 15 min. for UM, but couldn't get past bad foul trouble
