Hmm...so, you're saying that farmers should bear the burden of the infrastructure that supports their industry, and urban areas pay for only the infrastructure THEY use.

And since the farmers don't use all the high density infrastructures required to support urban density, they'll then be able to afford to pay for the water delivery systems.

Works for me!
What I'm saying is the kalifornia political whores were able to sell these outrageous & unsustainable water delivery projects based upon the urban dwellers ability to pay, not the farmers. Urban people have to have water, especially to support the rate of growth Kali cities were experiencing and trying to achieve in the first part of the 20th century. However, the central valley did not have to be world's bread basket....at least not through socialist public works projects that were a windfall to kali politicians and agri-corps, but to the detriment of farming in sustainable environments with no need for water delivery systems located throughout the midwest and southeast.
Yep!

She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... First, most of the projects are federally funded, as the projects benefit our ENTIRE COUNTRY, not just CA.

How?

California's central valley is one of the most fertile, farmable regions ON THE PLANET: Not just in CA or the U.S. It's climate and soils allow for year-round farming.

Ergo...it's the most efficient location in the U.S. to farm. Therefore, it has logically been developed into the nation's largest supplier of Ag. goods.

Cheap, shitty produce is a disincentive for organic farmers and helps fuel the fast food industry, which costs us billion upon billions in preventable health care costs. It also fuels over population and in turn war and environmental destruction. California mega farms are massive polluters who rely on petroleum based fertilizers and pesticides and do not practive sustainable and responsible farming practices - THUS they are ruining the very earth they rely on.

I should start compiling a list. Now neither the 80,000 farm workers NOR fast food restaurant owners/operators/employees (probably ANOTHER 3-4 MILLION people) have a right to make a living. Just how far does this "population control" plan of yours go, D?

I realize they are federally-funded, that's the crime. And ask the farmers in Georgia how beneficial central valley corporate farms have been for him. BTW, if this area is so suitable for farming, why have schemes been suggested to divert water from the Columbia River or even Canada's rivers....kind of need a sustainable and steady water supply to make your claim....based upon your criteria, West Texas is also a fertile crescent in the making.......the cali ag-business was a house of cards much like the current housing fiasco....welcome to the 21st century....

The issue is less about how suitable the land is for farming and more about the collision between farms and excessive development going to battle over a finite water supply.

The population control plan you've been blathering about for a few weeks now. In your world, who exactly DOES have a right to make a living? Or should we all just live off the benevolent government?

Hey Asshole, the industry shouldn't exist in it's current situation - unsustainable and polluting. Those people can work on organic farms or do something else. Don't put words into my mouth fvckhead. In fact, just get out of here and start a titty thread somewhere. You are out of your league.

Seriously, D? Organic food? You know most studies show that organic food has no health advantages, and that organic farms are far less efficient, and that you are much more likely to get food-bourne illness from organic food products, right?

I'm not much for buying organic, but I'd like to see the studies.

Organic Beef Vs. Orgasmic Beef

In my world, having a great beef steak is a treat, and not usually partaken of anymore often than once every three weeks or so. For those occasions, I'll take a choice cut, even a prime cut if I can buy one.

I've had grass fed beef, and organic beef, and again in my world, I call that stuff elk. It's sure ok, but in no way a substitute for a nicely marbled medium rare.

Great news.

Yesterday I spoke to a property owner right in the path of the proposed peripheral canal. They're not happy...but have been told "It's gonna happen, so you better prepare for it." They own several parcels of land in the area, and will be forced to sell two through eminent domain, one actually in the path of the canal, and another to be used to relocate "bird sanctuary" land needed for the canal.
Project is going to be 5-8 years...but the owner had been told by a Fed rep. they have apparently pulled all stops to fund it and solve this crisis.

A pile of the landowners are pissed off, but most are also farmers so they understand the need to build it.

A light at the end of the tunnel.

That's a pretty cavalier attitude considering the seriousness of this situation.

And...did I miss it, or have you once again bitched and obstructed without offering a reasonable solution that will solve this problem BEFORE a catastrophy occurs?

No?

Then I'm sure you won't mind if I post your address for use by the 40,000 workers who will lose jobs this year as a result of this decision?
You are insane, T-man.

There are reasonable solutions out there, but the agricultural interests have always rejected them. They want all the cheap, government-subsidized water they can waste, with out following any of the land ownership rules that came with the original goverment aid.

So you are so off base on this it is pathetic. Environmentalist TRIED, and TRIED to compromise, only to be told to **** OFF by the farmers.
They were trying to warn them back in the 70's when I lived there. As usual they were dismissed out of hand by the same clowns that have since ruint the state. Rice farmers were the worst.
You matter. Unless you multiply yourself by c squared. Then you energy.
