"The three-minute clip of Saturday’s shooting starts shaky, but it steadies as Slager and Scott appear to be grabbing at each other’s hands.

Slager has said through his attorney that Scott had wrested his Taser from him during a struggle.

The video appears to show Scott slapping at the officer’s hands as several objects fall to the ground. It’s not clear what the objects are.

Scott starts running away. Wires from Slager’s Taser stretch from Scott’s clothing to the officer’s hands."

If it was the taser, then f*ck the guy that got shot. They guy had fled from police before, and had an assault and battery incident on his record. You grab an officer and his weapon, you should get shot, even if you change your mind and run away.

Really...when an officer stops you, just comply. If you fight back, you should be shot.
You'll love the part where the cop alters the crime scene. :thumb:

Do yourself a favor and actually watch all ten seconds of the video. The attorney you quote dropped the cop as a client today as soon as the video was released. There is no defense here.

Cold blooded murder by an angry cop. Eight shots in the back of an old man running away.

Good thing for the video... otherwise the cop would be a hero.

Though, seems like he still is to JSO and Cluck. :?

The video is damning. SLED is also pretty good about investigating officer involved shootings, and so even if the vid didn't exist this guy would be toast- if for no other reason than the bullet placement and the range at which he was shot.

But from the vid it is obvious that the guy isn't a threat, and the fleeing felon rule won't apply here.. The best this guy can do is plead guilty for a deal.
I would think one or five entry wounds to the back from under 10 yards would be enough to do it alone even without the video. This guy deserves jail.

this is right. The cop is guilty. You shouldn't run from the police but non lethal force should've been used.

Yeah that's what I was saying.

Felchy disagrees though- to him there's apparently no such thing as forensics, ballistics, and well, science.

Scott wasn't a track star. This cop could've caught up with him and knocked him down. Maybe Andy Savage will be his attorney.

I doubt very seriously Andy would take this case- unless the guy intends to plead guilty.

Are you kidding me? Andy Savage defended Al Parrish. Lawsuits like this are his bread and butter.

The Al Parrish case had some very tricky characteristics- and white collar investment fraud can be very difficult to navigate. As scummy as Parrish was, I don't see that as a douchebag case for Andy to defend.

This is an open and shut improper use of force case and Andy won't take it unless he thinks there's a chance the guy could be found not guilty, or that there is some kind of miscarriage of justice being perpetrated against the officer. I just don't see it.

They had his car even if the cop was too out of shape or didn't want to put his doughnut down to run after a 50 year old man. He won't spend very long in jail if he even goes. Whoever shot the video is going to pay though.

What happens to the killer's partner will be interesting to see from the perspective of how it couls affect the blue wall of omerta.

Why? What should happen to his partner? Did he fire off a couple rounds too?

I do think cops are over aggressive in many cases and use excessive force fairly routinely. Nevertheless, when it comes to it, I have always believed that if the police are trying to get you and you flee they should be able to shoot you in order to stop you. If you don't want to get shot, don't flee.

A statement released by North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said a man ran on foot from the traffic stop and an officer deployed his department-issued Taser in an attempt to stop him.

That did not work, police said, and an altercation ensued as the men struggled over the device. Police allege that during the struggle the man gained control of the Taser and attempted to use it against the officer.

The officer then resorted to his service weapon and shot him, police alleged.
:bs:
Officers tried to revive him prior to the arrival of paramedics, police said. But their efforts were in vain. He was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. Police did not immediately specify whether he was armed.

Yep, even if there was any type of confrontation that occurred before the video there wasn't any reason for the cop to shoot 8 times at a guy's back who is running away.

Cops need to learn - one shot- in the hamstring - brings the suspect down - non-lethal, non-story.
