I loved the scenes last night where there were two cars on fire in the middle of an intersection and a guy in a big SUV (stolen?) backed into one of the cars to push it further into the flames. And there was one guy who drove a sedan through a flaming pile of shit in the middle of the street. The onlookers were going crazy with their applause.

Were a shitload of cops that had been at that intersection prior but had recently retreated a couple hundred yards. They were just watching all that going on. Later they moved en masse (about 200 looked like) right up to that intersection with firefighters behind, then later retreated again.

I have a true Black man story.

The previous week, some 50+ year old Black dude starts cutting a neighbor's grass. Neighbor isn't home...she's dead. Daughter of dead neighbor lives 30 minutes away and hasn't sold the house (2 years...having a hard time letting go), but keeps it up. However, she hadn't had the grass cut and the service she used retired. She was thinking about asking some of the neighborhood kids to cut the grass.

In any case, this rather homeless looking guy cuts the grass on a Monday, and then sits around outside the house all day. So, I wander up to our other neighbor, who is in contact with the daughter, and ask if she knows anything about the guy sitting around the lawn next door to her all day. Nope, is the answer. In the meantime, the guy shouted and waived to another person on a motorcycle to come over and park in the driveway. They then walk around the house.

So, we go over to the guy, and ask him what is happening. His "nephew" on the motorcycle never took his helmet off and kept staring at us with angry eyes. The original guy said he cut the grass and is waiting to get paid...and do we know when the person will be coming home. My neighbor asked him to leave an invoice ( the guy wasn't the invoice looking type), and he said he didn't want to. He then asked if we could pay him and have the owner reimburse him.

So, my neighbor used a false name and asked when he spoke to, "Katy and John" about cutting the lawn, and what type of arrangement they made for them to pay him. He said that they hired him to cut the lawn and that they said they'd be home later to pay him. At that time, my neighbor asked if he had the wrong house. He insisted that he didn't, that he had cleared their snow (not true...the neighbor who was there actually had her husband clear the snow from that house) over the winter, and that he was supposed to cut the grass. He would not say where he lived, called himself James, and would not give a last name or a phone number.

Then, a substitute mailman, who was a total idiot, walked by and asked, "Does anyone live here, because the mail piles up?" I said yes, but they enter the house from the garage and don't often check their mail daily.

I pulled out my phone and walked away towards another neighbor's house. At that point, the nephew decided to leave on his motorcycle...and the guy pulls out a bicycle from behind the hedge and rides off...leaving the lawn mower, a gas tank, and his jacket behind.

We called the daughter, who said she didn't hire anyone, and then called the police. The police called the neighbor, who confirmed she didn't hire anyone. Two days alter, they removed the mower, gas tank, and jacket and told us to call them if the guys came back.

Well, this Saturday, the daughter was home and the guy comes back and asks where his mower went. They engaged in an argument and she called the police. They came and asked him to leave.

My neighbor (not the daughter) filmed him screaming, "Is this what you do to Black men in this neighborhood! This wouldn't happen to a white person!"

NEWSFLASH: black or white...we'd call the cops.
