A Metro police officer is off the streets after allegedly threatening a man during a traffic stop.

Officer Brian Birch of the South Precinct has been decommissioned and is on desk duty because of what was caught on police video: the officer threatening to shoot the man in the face.

Minutes before police made the traffic stop underneath the overpass of Interstate 24 and Bell Road, Fisher said he watched two men break into his car while he was eating on the patio of the nearby Casa Fiesta restaurant.

He went out and confronted one of the men, while the other robber took off.

Someone at the restaurant saw that Fisher had a gun and called 911. The caller said he thought it was an AK-47 and that it seemed to be a domestic situation.

Metro police later confirmed there was no AK-47.

Fisher did have a semi-automatic pistol and a shotgun, as well as a valid handgun carry permit.

An Anne Arundel County police officer faces an assault charge after he bit another man's testicles in a fight over a woman on Cinco de Mayo, according to charging documents released by police Wednesday.

Baltimore City police officers were called in the area of the 700 block of South Linwood and 2900 block of O'Donnell Street for an assault call around 11:47 p.m. Tuesday.

According to charging documents, a man told police he was assaulted by two men, one of whom bit his testicles in the alley behind Looney's Pub in the 2900 block of O'Donnell Street.
