Oh - and A-Rod WAS suspended for a season, so all is good
Re: Patriots=Cheaters...Again
One of the reasons Aaron Rogers so great. He plays with balls that are not deflated and his girl friend backs up the statement!

Let me guess. Another fine that rich guys will laugh at and a draft pick taken away that won't be missed that much.
The only thing that would really be effective is if they took away the championship, but that won't happen.

It's not like it's the first time this franchise has cheated. I agree.Gil Dobie wrote:Vacate Championship for sure
But, my wager is fines, a draft pick or two, and 8 games for Brady (and maybe a year if Goodell has any balls).

So the evidence is "we're pretty sure they cheated"
and the Colts had 4 balls that were under regulation also in that game
I'm curious what exactly the NFL will do with a report that says: "We're pretty sure" / My guess is not much

There were texts uncovered in the investigation proving otherwise, unless the ball guy is blatantly lying.

The delay in fine is because Kraft is having an arbitrator come in
Kraft wants the Colts punished too

Stop being an apologist. There's nothing in the report anywhere that the Colts did anything at all to deflate the balls - this is entirely a Patriots-focused finding. And it's not even just about one game, the guy was known as "The Deflator" coming into this year (so at least last year, if not further), there's numerous mentions of deflation throughout the year, and Brady was apparently talking with the guys involved and was providing them signed memorabilia as compensation. And besides, Kraft has already waved the white flag in his statement - he said he doesn't believe any of this and it's all made up, but that he'll accept whatever punishment the league will pass down. The Pats, and Brady especially, got caught redhanded and they should face a hefty penalty. Brady's lucky he refused to turn over his cell phone to the investigation, and that he got to speak extensively with one of the conspirators before the investigation got to that guy, or it would be even worse. Guilty as sin.Chizzang wrote:That ^ isn't what I saw...93henfan wrote:

I wonder if the Jets did this stuff a few years ago and the pat's stole the sign and implemented it themselves?

Re: Patriots=Cheaters...Again
There is no way Brady doesn't get a suspension for this. The commish was the one that commissioned the Wells investigation - he produced his report & has put probable cause on 3 people including Brady of conspiring to deflate footballs.
Does this matter? Sure it does, do you think its a pure coincidence the Patriots has the least amount of fumbles in the NFL? Personally i think it's a joke that this whole thing gets resolved now versus on the spot before the Super Bowl was played or before the draft.
I think Brady gets 4-8 games, and a fine. Plus other penalties to the organization.

I just read the "report Highlights"
and the Patriots ball guy and the locker room guy and Brady are guilty...
And the Colts got 'em

Agreed, it was always a statistical anamoly that the Pats had such fewer fumbles than anyone else in the league as they have had for the past several years. And even worse that guys would be fumblers elsewhere, come to the Pats and turn into good ball handlers, and then leave the Pats and start fumbling again. The old line that it was Bellichick's coaching, and fear of him, that made people hold onto the ball better for him is really proven to be just another in a series of coverups for an organization that has flaunted the rules for more than a decade now.bluehenbillk wrote:There is no way Brady doesn't get a suspension for this. Cheaters. No other way around it. Anything less than 4 games for Brady, several draft picks lost, and a hefty organizational fine (say $100k) is a joke. Should throw the book at these guys considering they've already been caught cheating before.

Hard to do much more here, the report goes out of its way to say there's no organizational tie, other than failure to monitor the cheating going on. That's why Brady should get even more - he's a guy who obviously knew about the cheating, allowed it to happen (if not direct it), lied about it when it all came to light, and then impeded the investigation. So maybe go light on the fine and more on the suspension. Heck, Sean Payton was suspended from the Saints for a year because one of his assistants ran a bounty scheme and no one ever said Payton even knew anything about it - he was just the guy at the helm and they said he should've known about it. Throw the book at Brady - he's a cheat and he tried to cover it up.93henfan wrote:$100k fine to billionaire Robert Kraft is like a cop pulling us over and saying, "I'll show you buddy! So you're going to compare a program designed to end players careers vs. 1 lb psi in a ball..?
I agree there should be fines and suspensions
but these two things are NOT AT ALL comparable

Through your apologist eyes I'm sure that's how you read that. Even throwing in there the whole 1 lb psi in a ball to further minimize the cheating. Nice. Are you getting any signed memorabilia from Tom Brady too or are you holding out for something else?Chizzang wrote:GannonFan wrote:

Okay... seems legit

No, the actual point I was making when comparing the two was that Sean Payton, who had no knowledge of what was going on, was suspended. That was comparing to Robert Kraft, who despite no actual wrong doing, could also face some kind of penalty. If you like, the same comparison of "someone being punished who didn't directly do anything wrong" could be applied to the Falcons Owner (or President, can't remember) who just got suspended because his team, unbenknownst to him, pumped artificial crowd noise into the stadium. The concept being compared, i.e. punishing someone at the top of an organization who did nothing wrong while those below him did do wrong, is very comparable.

but the type of crime is important regardless of knowledge or lack of knowledge
I think the whole thing is fascinating
