Don't like pulling the goalie when you have a PP. You are already up a player on the ice and other team pulls the puck they are free to ice the puck and if they miss the goal, no biggie but easier to score.

Last 5 Game 7s for Lundqvist 5-0, 0.80, .973. Five straight Game 7 wins are an NHL record by a goaltender.

2014 2nd Round - Rangers over Pitt 2-1 - 35 saves in 36 attempts
2014 1st Round - Rangers over Philly 2-1 - 26 saves in 27 attempts
2013 1st Round - Rangers over Caps 5-0 - 35 saves in 35 attempts
2012 2nd Round - Rangers over Caps 2-1 - 22 saves in 23 attempts
2012 1st Round - Rangers over Senators 2-1 - 26 saves in 27 attempts

:ohno: Caps lose Wednesday and I might be done with sports. I have way too much stress in my life, I can't take any more of this shit. I felt like an idiot jumping up and down and yelling at the TV last night. Then they have to make it interesting with two quick ones to close the gap and dominate the next several minutes. Funny Tribe, that penalty call ended up helping the Rangers. The Caps were playing MUCH better 5 on 5.

As a Ranger fan, I have seen my favorite team play 11 games this post season.

1 of those games finished 1-0
7 of those games finished 2-1
1 of those games finished 3-2
2 of those games finished 4-3

All 11 games have been 1 goal games with 3 of those being in OT. That is not good for my heart, my hair or just my general well being. How about a game like this one for Game 7.

Very poor showing by Les Habitants. Probably the worst or second to worst game by Price in the playoffs and the Canadiens only had 19 shots. TB seemed to play to win and Montreal not to lose which is opposite of what would have been expected.

TB was 3-0 versus the Rangers but all games were between November 17 and December 1 so they were a while ago

TB was 1-2 versus the Capitals but all games were between November 11 and December 13 so they were a while ago as well

Going to be tough for one of the East teams to beat the West for the cup.. I hope to see Tampa and Washington go at it next. Bishop in goal for Tampa has been superb. I would hate to see him taken out by the Rangers because the Rangers have "Yet" to take a goalie out of a series.

The West was not that much better than the East like in previous years and I can say that the Rangers are much better than last year's team if they make it that far.

Who knows who will make it out but the goaltending is probably better for the teams in the East which could make a difference. Crawford shows flashes of brilliance but no Blackhawk fan completely trusts him and you know you are in bad shape if you have to go to your backup even if Darling has played well. Anderson has played well for Anaheim but not to the extent of the 3 East goalies. Not saying the East will be favored but wouldn't surprise me to see them win like the past few years especially if the experienced Rangers team makes it again.

As to regular season records:

Rangers were 1-1 against Chicago (both 1-0 games) and 2-0 against Anaheim (4-1 and 7-2) this year.

Washington was 2-0 against both teams

TB was 1-1 against Chicago and 2-0 against Anaheim this year

Wow! Another OT win. 2-1 Rangers

Great series by both teams. Ovi played very well today as did Holtby but Lundqvist was just 1 better.

TB comes to town for Game 1 Saturday afternoon.

With Patrick Kane, the Hawks were 1-0 against Tampa and he didn't play against the Rangers. Kane steps it up in the playoffs.

And so does Lundqvist. Goalies rarely have finished their playoffs and gone at least 2 rounds with better than .944/1.60. Quick did it a few years ago and Bryzgalov did it in 2006 but that is it in the cap era for combined stats like that. Only gave up more than 2 goals twice in 12 games. That type of goaltending will keep you in games and he plays his best when it counts.

Note that I didn't say that the East Coast team was going to win. I was just responding to El Griz's comment "Going to be tough for one of the East teams to beat the West for the cup.."

I just said that it's not as big of a difference as in previous years and the East Coast team this year should be considered a true contender. That is especially true if the Rangers make it because I would trust Lundqvist in goal over the other 3 goaltenders over the long run (short run any of these guys can get hot).

Last year, the Rangers were almost happy to be in the Finals and were not true contenders going in (though the individual games were closer than the 4-1 series). This year, the team is built to win it all. Whether they do or not is another story. Hoping that Boyle is ok and Zucc makes it back early this series.

Rangers come back from the emotional Game 7 win to win Game 1 2-1 over TB for their record setting 15th straight 1 goal game.

Chicago controlled play but Andersen outplayed Crawford by far with some great saves so Anaheim won 4-1 with an empty net goal included.

Flyers hire North Dakota head coach Dave Hakstol.

Initial reaction on social media is not good. Fans wanted someone with Cup experience. Who knows? New blood could be good. I'm just glad we didn't get another organizational retread like Berube, Holmgren, Barber, etc.

Interesting. Has a college coach ever gone straight to the Pros before? I am sure they have as I don't follow it in that sport that much but its not even like college is the 1 step below as Juniors seems like it may be closer than College in terms of talent.

When was the last time a former college coach had great success in the NHL?

I don't know, but what I do know is that by about dinner time there will be multiple articles on Philly.com telling us all about it before they go to print in the newspapers.
