Though they had to rely on some sick saves by Fleury.

The two quick goals by the Pens were brutal.

Proud of the way the Canes fought back into the game though. They've now lost every game one so far.

Still lots of hockey left and the two teams seem pretty evenly matched. Should be a great series.

Pens beat the Canes 7-4 and take a 2-0 series lead. Malkin had a hat trick for the Pens.

Pittsburgh lead 4-3 after 2 periods, Carolina tied it up at 4 but Pittsburgh scored 3 more times.

I was fairly sure that Pittsburgh's season was over when they went down 2 games to nil against Washington.
Luckily it wasn't.

But hopefully the Pens can add a nail to the Canes' coffin with a win in game 3.

wow, detroit got called for a 5 minute major penalty (and game misconduct) on what looked to me like a clean (albeit vicious) hit.

I suppose that is what happens when you knock the other player out for a bit.

Malkin had his 6th multi-point playoff game in a row, breaking a Pittsburgh record formerly held by Mario Lemieux. (Gretzky holds the league record with 8 straight multi-goal playoff games in the same year)
