I don't see anywhere in the article that he called the fans "stupid". He was saying that fans are not privy to what's going on behind the scenes and are "bitching" without knowing the full picture.

The real problem is that Amaro has been ineffective for years.

I'd put Philadelphia fans in the top three of most knowledgeable and passionate along with Boston and New York. Nowhere else in the country compares to those three four-sport towns. Chicago is close, then a huge drop off.
