Tampa Bay is scoring goals like kids do in video games - you get those looks all the time in NHL15, just not in regular games. I just hope they keep it up for two more wins.tribe_pride wrote:It's not just suddenly. Rangers have had a lot of trouble against TB all year having scored fewer than 4 goals only 1 time in 6 games so far this year. It's one of those things where TB has their number and one of the few teams that matches up perfectly against the Rangers. Out of the 12 goals in the last 2 games, only 1 or 2 were savable. TB is passing across the ice to wide open guys like in no games I have seen before.Ivytalk wrote:Suddenly, the Big Swede looks mortal.

Anaheim takes game 3 with a late goal. Goalies playing well this series as neither of the 3 goals were their fault in this game. Ducks are up 2-1 and the NHL is now concerned that they will have the potential of a series with the fewest viewers as Chicago and NY likely have more actual fans and interest than the warmer TB and Anaheim.

Eh, I'd rather watch Tampa than NYR - Tampa plays a lot more wide open, it's a lot more fun. Screw the ratings.tribe_pride wrote:Anaheim takes game 3 with a late goal. Re: 2014-15 NHL Season
Rangers reclaim home ice advantage with a 5-1 win to tie the series at 2. The King played like his old self and was outstanding, the defense helped by giving up fewer wide open shots though there were 39 of them but possibly more important, Nash scored 2 and St. Louis scored his first goal of the playoffs.
Rangers 6 of 13 in the last 3 games on the power play while being 6 of 40 in the previous 13 games
TB has been 4 of 12 in those same 3 games.
The previous 9 games the Rangers had won had been by 1 goal. Previous win by more than 1 was last game of regular season against the Caps on April 11
How will TB respond after playing well (until the last 10 minutes or so when the game was over) but not scoring much?

Chicago with another multiple OT win to even the series at 2-2 as both Original Six teams remaining won Game 4 to avoid facing elimination in Game 5.

TB with 2 in the 2nd take Game 5 to win 2-0. Rangers once again need to bring it to a Game 7 to advance.

16 minutes and 30 seconds before Chicago took its first shot and they were already down 3-0 That is not a winning strategy.
Edit: Just as I typed that, Anaheim goalie gives up an extremely weak goal early in the 2nd so that Anaheim now has a 3-1 lead.

Andersen lets in 3 bad goals out of 4 as Chicago scores twice in the last 2 minutes with Crawford pulled as there is a 4-4 tie going into OT. Chicago's 3rd goal was a good goal.

Rangers bring it to a Game 7 back at MSG with a 7-3 win at Tampa. The King kept them in it in the 1st period (2-1 lead) saving 15 of 16 shots and finishing with 36 saves. Rangers dominated the 3rd as Tampa's final 2 goals were garbage goals when the Rangers were up by 4 in each case. Brassard had 3 goals and 2 assists and a +/- of +5 and Miller and Nash each had 1 goal and 3 assists.
2 days off before Game 7 on Friday.
Game 6 with Anaheim @ Chicago tomorrow night

Re: 2014-15 NHL Season
Will start my Game 7 stuff again since it worked against the Caps.
Henrik's last 6 Game 7s 6-0, 0.833, .9728 gaa. Six straight Game 7 wins are an NHL record by a goaltender.
2015 2nd Round - Rangers over Caps - 2-1 OT - 35 saves in 36 attempts
2014 2nd Round - Rangers over Pitt 2-1 - 35 saves in 36 attempts
2014 1st Round - Rangers over Philly 2-1 - 26 saves in 27 attempts
2013 1st Round - Rangers over Caps 5-0 - 35 saves in 35 attempts
2012 2nd Round - Rangers over Caps 2-1 - 22 saves in 23 attempts
2012 1st Round - Rangers over Senators 2-1 - 26 saves in 27 attempts
Can't believe they have an extra day's rest though the same happened before Game 7 vs. the Caps so maybe a good sign.

but true.
The Ducks/Hawks series is some of the best hockey I've seen played in a long time - granted i'm not an avid hockey watcher but watch enough to know damn good hockey when I see it.

Game 7s all around after Chicago defeats Anaheim 5-2.
Each game will have a traditional power Original Six team versus a warm weather team founded in the early 1990s.
Rangers host the Lightning start it off on Friday
Ducks host the Blackhawks on Saturday.

I actually just like to bring up the Original Six because it annoys certain people on this site for some reason.
Either way, big Game 7s on Friday and Saturday. This is how the playoffs should be.

But despite what the name would suggest, the “Original Six” weren’t really the league’s original teams. The league had plenty of other franchises come and go during its first few decades, and spent most of that time operating with more than six teams.
The NHL was founded in 1917, following the demise of the National Hockey Association. It started off with four teams, and when the Montreal Wanderers disbanded halfway through the season after their arena burned down, the league was left with just three: the Montreal Canadiens, the Ottawa Senators, and a nameless Toronto franchise that would eventually become the Maple Leafs.
As the years went by, the league saw teams appear in Quebec City and Hamilton. The Bruins were the first American team, joining the league in 1924. The Rangers and Blackhawks followed in 1926, as did a Detroit franchise that would eventually be renamed the Red Wings.
So it took almost a decade for all six of the “Original Six” franchises to wind up in the NHL — and even then, the league also included teams like the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Eagles at various points. It wasn’t until 1942, a quarter century after its formation, that the NHL finally settled into the six-team league that fans have become familiar with. It would stay that way until 1967, when the league increased to 12 teams to begin what would become known as the expansion era.
Those 25 years were by far the longest stretch of time that the NHL featured the same group of teams, and it was the era that set the stage for everything the league would eventually become. It just wasn’t all that original, no matter what the marketers try to tell us.

Re: 2014-15 NHL Season
Good enough for me to call them the Original 6. Other thing left out is that no team other than the Original 6 lasted for more than 20 years during those early years. By 1967 the Original 6 were all 40+ years old.
