Those 25 years were by far the longest stretch of time that the NHL featured the same group of teams, and it was the era that set the stage for everything the league would eventually become. It just wasn’t all that original, no matter what the marketers try to tell us.
Good enough for me to call them the Original 6. Other thing left out is that no team other than the Original 6 lasted for more than 20 years during those early years. By 1967 the Original 6 were all 40+ years old. Original 6.
They are the original 6 teams to survive the early years of the NHL.

Bolts 2, New Yawk 0. Road teams won 5 of the 7 games in the series. So much for Ranger Game 7 magic.

Yeah. Am a Ranger fan but Tampa was the better team yesterday. Hopefully another good one tonight and then a good SC Finals. Been a lot more exciting than NBA playoffs by far so far.

Who cares where they're from? They're both good teams that are fun to watch.

Seeing the 5-3 final during the Round Table after-party following the Sirens win tonight almost totally killed my joy....

Not sure why people are so against Jets, Mets and Rangers except for people who are going to be anti whatever is NY. Rangers last won it all in '94, Mets in '86, and Jets in Super Bowl III. Mets and Jets are like the little brothers to the Yanks and Giants who are the real NY bandwagon teams. Rangers are the NY team for NHL but since the salary cap have actually been built pretty well and have done things the right way. Pre-lockout about 10 years ago the Rangers used to spend insane money on known names who were just past their prime.

All that said, hoping for a Stanley Cup finals just like the conference finals were. NHL playoffs are making the NBA playoffs look really bad and boring.

I think both NBA and NHL playoffs are great. Different scenarios, but still some great teams.

Thank you for clarifying. Yes, 99% of New York, say north of the Tappan-Zee Bridge, is quite decent. :thumb:

I have been here after almost all of the Ranger games win or lose - at least since the Caps series started. May have missed 1 or 2 but was here the day after the Rangers' season ended. No bandwagon in me.- Also find it hard to believe anyone is a Mets or Jets bandwagon fan. Giants and Yankees, sure but Mets and Jets have not been consistently good enough to have bandwagon followers.

Also, I have lived in a number of major cities with a good amount of pro sports teams and each of them act the same way. If you only have 1 maybe 2 sports teams around, the bandwagonning is not as bad since there is not as much competition but NYC is just bigger with more teams so it's easier to find the bandwagonners.

Tampa has shown why you can't sit back and try to only play D for a full period.

They went up 1-0 in the first 5 minutes of the game. In the first and 2nd period they had 10 and 8 shots outshooting Chi who had 7 and 6 shots and were still up 1-0. Chi scored almost 14 minutes into the 3rd and TB only had 1 shot on goal by then in the 3rd. Momentum changed and Chi scores again 2 minutes later to go up 2-1. TB had 3 shots in the final 2 minutes but only managed 5 in the period with a Chi 2-1 win

Yup. I thought Tampa outplayed Chicago in the first 2 periods. Sure their lone goal was pure luck but you can't curl up into a ball for 20 minutes against Chicago's offense and expect a 1 goal lead to hold.

No Bishop tonight but Vasilevskiy was strong in Game 2. Bishop was very good last game in the win to lead TB to a 2-1 lead but you could tell he had trouble moving and was hurt.

How long will the Coyotes be in Phoenix (or really Glendale)?

Apparently, the city council of Glendale voted to cancel the Coyotes lease because the Coyotes hired the former Glendale city attorney in 2013 supposedly in conflict with an Arizona statute that allows an agency to cancel a contract if an employee significantly involved in a contract becomes employed with the other party. This obviously is posturing as the city wants the Coyotes to renegotiate the Lease that is only a few years in but will be interesting to see where it goes.
