All of the sudden it's a good thing for a candidate to be a rich person who never has to think about money and to be a person that won't make a speech for anything under a half million dollars? What happened to the blasting of McCain for not knowing how many houses his wife owned or Mit Romney for his lavish lifestyle?

Where'd the paradigm shift come from? (as if I have to ask).

NYT Uncovers Rubio's puchase of a "Luxury speedboat"

NYT Slams Rubio for Owning ‘Luxury Speedboat,’ Which is Really a Dinghy

The EdgeWater 245CC Deep-V Center Console, which is the same model Sen. Marco Rubio has.
 BY: Alyssa Canobbio

In the New York Times’ latest effort to take down Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) and his efforts in running for president, the paper dug through his financial records. The Times found that Rubio “splurged” on what was reported as a “luxury speedboat.” The boat turned out to be a 24-foot EdgeWater 245CC Deep-V Center Console—a fishing boat, for the less nautically inclined. Rubio has said owning the boat has always been a dream.Politico reported that the boat included two new 150-horsepower 4-stroke Yamaha engines—a standard among fishing boats—and is priced at $11,618.00.
The Times overlooked Miami’s multimillion-dollar yachts that have hosted the richest of the rich and instead zeroed in on Rubio’s dream dinghy.
The Times has yet to target current Secretary of State John Kerry’s $7 million yacht and his docking it in Rhode Island to avoid paying $500,000 in Connecticut state sales tax as well an annual $70,000 in an excise taxes. Kerry’s yacht has two cabins, a pilothouse with a wet bar and wine chiller. During the uprising and regime change in Egypt, Secretary Kerry could be found in the Nantucket sound on the “Isabel.” Rubio’s fishing boat has a center control console.
While Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton does not own a luxury speedboat or a multimillion-dollar yacht, she has been photographed cruising around with celebrities and their yachts. In 1993, the Clintons joined then-Sen. Edward Kennedy and former First Lady Jackie Kennedy Onassis on a 70-foot yacht. Maurice Tempelsman, a diamond trader and long time companion of Onassis, owned the yacht. No word from the Rubio campaign if the senator had his flippy-floppies while sailing around on his fishing boat.

So CID says something about NYT going after Rubio on behalf of Hillary, and it's OK, but when SH says essentially the same thing, it's another sign of stupidity?!?

So the Clinton Foundation donates $100,000 to the NYT and then a couple weeks later they endorse her as the 2008 candidate, and you're not the least bit concerned that the NYT appears so easily bought?
Because right now they are critiquing the lifestyles and choices of Hillary's potential opponents..... wonder why?

Nope, but a decent boat plus owning three houses at one time, and periodically approaching insolvency ain't the best track record for someone running to be in charge of the world's largest economy (not that he'd REALLY be in charge, but you catch my drift).

My point is that Freebeacon shouldn't be casting any stones.

Uh…both sides do it??? :)

Seriously, you guys should all be admiring Hilary. She's playing the game to perfection. It's still amazing that Obama overcame the machine.

I hope at this point that Bernie Sanders somehow figures out a way to do the same and then goes down in flames in a McGovernesque crash a la '72. It will make for spectacular viewing.

This thread is a good example of how fucked up politics really is.

Marco Rubio owns a fishing boat - so fucking what?

Then the retort comes in and they conveniently leave a "0" off the end of the price of the boat.

All bullshit and no credibility on either side.

Well in defense of the NYT (and Clinton Foundation), the fishing boat was just a small part of the piece.

And yer just jelly about the boat.

I see a lot of those kinds of boats at my parents place. I had no idea that the Conowingo Pond in Peach Bottom PA was a play ground for the political elite.

If Team Brown gets a conk presidential candidate, I’m going to brow beat all my Team Brown compadres into voting for him and publicly shame them if they even consider otherwise….just like team black did in ’08 and ’12.

It’s long past due since we had one of our own in the WH…and besides, who else better to clean up the mess lest by team black then a Team Brown member. It’s what we do. :coffee:
