New pool "police" atrocity. This time I think the acting is a bit overdone. If there is a real problem, this video isn't helping.

Not completely serious but I did like that. Like I quit organized athletics in the 10th grade but I actually enjoyed getting into pick up athletics with Black guys just to get a kick out of surprising them. Like I remember stopping one time when I saw a bunch of Black guys playing pick up football and asking if I could play. I get a kickoff and outrun them all for a long touchdown. One of them says, "DAMN man. Do you run track." And I say "Nope." I actually enjoyed being a contrarian who didn't play organized athletics myself but would punk guys who WERE in organized athletics in pick up type things. Did the same thing with MANY high school and even college football players. Would walk up and nobody would know who I was and I'd smoke them. Like line up at receiver and have some guy who played DB in college come right on top of me because he thought it'd be easy then run right by him and smoke him bad. Of course after the first time it was always harder. But it was still fun the first time.
If you're wondering the reason I know I ran 4.36 in college is because I wondered what I could do and went and got a McNeese track assistant to time me. It was actually interesting because the first time he got 5.10 and he looked kind of surprised because I guess he could see I was moving faster than that. Then he realized that he'd set up at 50 rather than 40 yards. Then at 40 yards he timed me in 4.36.

Hey, if I had it all to do over again I'd have stayed in organized athletics but at the time I was an "anti jock" hippie type who liked getting into informal athletic contests with jocks and humiliating them. A contrarian as I said. I loved knocking them off their high horse by having some scrawny long haired nobody make them look like a fool in front of all their friends. Sorry. I know I was an asshole. But I loved it.Read: bad teammate
Another one I remember was playing a pick up football game where one of the guys had been a local high school 100 meter sprinter. Not a world class sprinter mind you, just a AA school, but someone who thought he was fast. The other side was kicking off to start the game and my brother, who was on that side, said, "watch that tall guy, he's fast." The guy said "he can't outrun ME."
I got the kickoff and he came after me and had the angle and I pulled away from him. LOVED it because I knew he'd just been shocked right down to his jock strap.
Had another one like that happen with another 100 meter sprinter from a local AAAAA high school. Not the school's top 100 meter sprinter but still, again, a guy who thought he was fast. Got into a pick up game and caught a short pass over the middle with him right behind me then ran maybe 60 yards for a TD without him being able to catch me. Heard all the other guys on his team razzing him about not being able to catch me. LOVED that kind of stuff because I knew these guys were in a situation where they thought they had a big edge and it was fun as hell to to be a "nobody" non-jock doing that to them even if it was just out on some sandlot or practice field and nobody saw it.

Along this topic:
"Census Bureau considers dropping 'race' from survey
The U.S. Census Bureau is experimenting with eliminating the word “race” altogether in its 2020 survey, according to a report from the Pew Research Center on Thursday.
As part of its final research push before finalizing its 2020 wording, test-census forms will be sent to 1.2 million households later this fall in without any references to “race” or “origin.” Instead, the forms will ask: “Which categories describe person 1?” Respondents will then be able to choose from the usual list of racial and ethnic categories.
According to Pew, Census officials want to be clearer with their questions so that officials can gather more accurate data as required by law. Past testing and focus-group research has indicated confusion among found that the terms “race,” “ethnicity” and “origin” can mislead or confuse respondents, they can mean different things depending on the person answering.
“We recognize that race and ethnicity are not quantifiable values. Rather, identity is a complex mix of one’s family and social environment, historical or socio-political constructs, personal experience, context, and many other immeasurable factors,” the Census Bureau noted in a 2013 report on past testing efforts in the 2010 census. The report also recommended continued research on optimizing the use of examples for each racial and ethnic category, among other strategies.
Census forms currently contain two questions related to race and Hispanic origin, with one asking Americans whether they are Hispanic, Latino or Spanish, and the other asking “What is this person’s race?” with checkboxes and spaces to write in answers.
The Bureau is also testing the use of a “Middle Eastern or North African” category within the current lineup.
As Pew notes, the Bureau’s current definitions of race and Hispanic origin are often overlapping, with a white person being someone “having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East or North Africa,” while Hispanics are defined as a person with “Spanish culture or origin regardless of race.”
The proposal was submitted for review by the Office of Management and Budget last month.
The Census has asked Americans about their racial identity since the first survey in 1790, though terms have varied over the years, and Americans were not able to select their own race until 1960. Before that, Census workers marked it for them. Beginning in 2000, Americans could select more than one race."

Oh yeah no doubt about that. I had confidence issues big time back then. Like I didn't get laid until I was 19 and it wasn't because I didn't want to. I wanted to get laid SO badly before I graduated from high school and, alas, it didn't happen. I know you'll be shocked when I tell you I wasn't the most popular kid in school. No I had long curly hair that I tried to straighten. It didn't work out well. I looked like the Sphynx. My dad said he was going to keep a picture of me so that when I was older I could see how ridiculous I looked. And he did. And he was right.Did you have a bowl hair cut?
One time I went to a dance...which I hardly ever did... and I was wearing a green plaid polyester jacket, a yellow polyester shirt, and green polyester pants that looked like either a lizard costume or robin hood tights. I leaned up against something hot...can't remember what it was...and my coat melted. Yeah I had confidence issues.

Re: Can a black poster on here help me out...
Where I lived high school players played pick up but what I described in most cases is past tense. Like when I talk about people that "played" i college I'm talking about stuff like a city flag football league that had a bunch of guys in it who recently ended their college careers. "Played" is past tense. One team in particular was made up entirely of recent ex college football players.I never played pick up games when I played organized football. T'weren't allowed.
A different kind of thing but a little later in life I lived in coastal Georgia and I'd play full court pick up basketball at this health club several times a week. This guy that started at safety for Georgia showed up shortly after he was done there and started playing. I can't remember his name now but I'd actually seen him play on TV a number of times. I was kind of amazed at how unimpressive he was athletically. I'm talking about in terms of speed and quickness. I really did wonder just what it was that allowed him to be good enough to start at safety for Georgia. I mean he was very easy to out run and out quick.
