10:27 tee time. Pray for me to break 90 Joe. I'm sure there's a patron saint of golf there in the catholic arsenal.

No cheap shots while I'm away.

I thought this was a pro-life / pro-choice thread..?
- Big 10 Football - So boring Wisconsin is our most exciting team...
- Big 10 Football - Where 117th ranked Purdue is dominant...
- Big 10 Football - Where team speed and passing offense are not required...

I'm going to stick with the one Church which was founded by Jesus and the blessed acts of the apostles inspired by the Holy Spirit, the one Church which existed at the time Paul wrote that the Church was the bride of Christ.

If I'm in, I'm all the way in. Yes, our leaders have often proven to be boobs or worse, but that should not be surprising because you should expect that they are prime targets for temptation, simply because they are Church leaders. Satan tempted Jesus with the authority over all the kingdoms of the earth. He had the strength to say no, but how many of us would succumb? The Church is not the leaders anyway; it is the community of the faithful in communion in Christ.

And if I don't like a Church teaching, I am more inclined to stay in and seek change than jump to another church founded by a man, like Henry VIII or Martin Luther. No man is necessary to "correct" what Jesus started.
No man is authorized by Christ to proclaim his mother Mary as his co-redemptix, no man was authorized by Christ to pray to nobody other than him in his church, no man was ever authorized by Christ to sell salvation through indulgences and no man was ever deemed by Christ to call himself "infallible". Peter may indeed have been the first Pope but even he never declared himself to be infallible. He simply served as a bishop among bishops. I have no great desire to argue either but let's just say the constant prayers to Mary for "help", whatever Christ is the LONE mediator, and other stuff proved to be nothing more than adding to the Bible for me. Not to mention the attitudes towards the AIDS epidemic in Africa show just out of touch Rome is with the average poor family in that part of the world. A condom bans your soul to Hell? get real.......

other than that peace to you, I have found my place with God in the Episcopal Church. Shalom!
Meh. Nobody knows what christ authorized or didn't authorize. We only know at several removes what other people with their own agendas say christ authorized or didn't authorize. We don't know for sure that he existed at all, for that matter.
You matter. Unless you multiply yourself by c squared. Then you energy.

Episcopal sermons may be Protestant (or Lord knows what these days), but the Episcopal liturgy is nearly identical to the Catholic. Do you believe the words you say every week, in which you publicly proclaim your faith? Catholics say the same words.

All churches are human institutions with a history which includes questionable episodes.

I don't think it's possible to judge people based only on what they say they believe. In my opinion, it is more important to observe their actions.

There is no Catholic saint who is the patron saint of golfers. Maybe Jack Nicklaus someday.

But if YOU want to break 90, I will petition through St. Jude on your half. He is the patron saint of hopeless causes.

Making illegal is dumb.

Victims of rape, incest, or abuse should have a choice.

And really who is the government to say who can or cannot have an abortion?

Yet another issue that the govt needs to stay out of.

Oh I can agree with this. I harbor no ill will towards JJ or Catholicism at all, but I did leave after much soul searching, realizing I could not practice in an environment that believed in things that I had always struggled with as one of their members. Therefore, the Episcopal Church fits more into my belief system and I am all the more happy because of it. Peace.

So Joe, this Jesus crap...ummm...are the Jews all wrong? I mean, they're still waiting for the coming of the messiah, but you guys believe he already came?

What gives? Are the Jews wrong?

Surely they are, the culture who gave birth to the old testament....

No way Joltin Joe and Catholics could be mistaken...

Nope, just asking an honest question. Here it is again:

Are the Jews wrong? If so, why?

Another amazing contribution to a thread.

Z, this all you have:

1. Mention "Donk double standard"

and

2. Stalk D1B and post smiley face replies to anyone who takes a shot at him

You funny guy. I actually never even READ the thread, just the post I responded to. Thought it was funny. That's all. Now, if I'd made some Cap'n Cat-like comment like "it'll be a cold day in hell before D breaks 90", then followed it up with 3,000  smilies, would that have made you feel better and all warm and fuzzy inside?

Joe, tell me more bout the Catholics having the "In" on being the only "jesus approved" church.

The study detailed Americans' deep and broad religiosity, finding that 92 percent believe in God or a universal spirit -- including one in five of those who call themselves atheists. More than half of Americans polled pray at least once a day.
