Obama might actually go down quite a bit differently than the foaming at the mouth Radio Right wing hopes...
The history books will tell future generations quite a few things about American's first black president
*The affordable Care Act
25 years from now people won't be able to imagine a world where some folks didn't have healthcare
And it will be difficult to explain why people didn't and why some people did
*Killing Bin Laden
25 years from now he'll be the president listed under that banner
*Marriage Rights
25 years from now nobody will understand why tax breaks and Retirement Benefits and Estate holdings were only available to a man and a woman (and a corporation) but withheld from same sex partners..?
and it will be difficult to explain why a government would openly benefit one and not all
Not saying I think he's a good president
but this fantasy that he's going down as the worst ever is a pipe dream
The history books will have a whole bunch of nice things to say about his terms
Well, let's look at his contemporary, Jimmy Carter.
Carter is regarded by most as one of the worst presidents in modern history.
His largest accomplishment was (by far) the Camp David Accords. Probably the most powerful and successful diplomatic accomplishment since WWII.
Unfortunately for Carter he will always be remembered for the Iranian Hostage Crisis, Stagflation, the Misery Index, 21% interest rates, and put on a sweater if you're chilly.
Regarding Gay Marriage...Obama had nothing to do with it. Like Roe v. Wade, the SCOTUS will get all of the glory from that accomplishment.
The ACA is going to crush itself under it's own weight before all is said and done.
Killing Bin Laden...He will get credit, but when the kids see it in the history books, they will see this image:
That photo shows Lt. Gen. Marshall Webb was the guy in charge of the operation while Obama looks like a little boy who got called into the principal's office.
He will be remembered for the implosion of the Middle East under his watch...ISIS, the failed "Arab Spring", the fall of Iraq, Syria, and Libya, domestic spying, drones, Benghazi, IRS targeting of political groups, and playing 10,000 rounds of golf as president.
The history books will try to be kind, but to the general public, his presidency will still be regarded as the 2nd term of Jimmy Carter.
