The American women have done better in singles than they have in quite a while. Madison Keys came very close to reaching the semis. Vandeweghe and Mattek-Sands both did better than they have in quite a long time, if ever.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
