Cubs fans can shed light but rumor is he and Andy McPhail hated each other from their Cub days.
Sandberg was handed a shit sandwich in a red-pinstriped wrapper and finally had to take a bite.

I'm thinking I might be able to one hit the Phils.

Scherzer is a great talent, but it's the Phucking Phillies.

Phils have 2 on the board, including pinch homer by Revere.

I would love to know the odds of Revere hitting a HR off Scherzer. Only his 3rd...of his career.

They right now have a .319 win percentage at 29-62. Over 162 games that translates to 52-110.

62 Mets (1st year in existence) were 40-120 - .250
03 Tigers were 43-119 .265
1916 Philadelphia A's have the worst % at .235 with a 36-117 record

Would need to go 13-58 to tie the Mets for losses and 9-62 to tie the A's for the worst %.

Modern Era - (since 1900)

117 Philadelphia A's

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_w ... on_records" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The Phillies have 7 of the top 21 worst winning percentages in the Modern Era. the Philadelphia A's have another 3.

Of course a Philadelphia team would hold that honor, it's what our pro teams do.

The worst modern day (since 1900) season belongs to the Philadelphia A's of 1916, who went 36-117. The Mets of 1962 hold the record for most losses in a season with 120. The Phillies have had seasons with 100 losses a whopping 14 times, although we haven't eclisped the 100 loss plateau since 1961. The Phils worst season ever was when they went 43-111 in 1941, but I'm sure they were just focusing on the war in Europe. It's not hard to have more than 10,000 losses as an organization and not have a lot of stinkers in there.

Pitching/fielding by far worse than Hitting. Worst ERA at 4.84 (.01 ahead of Colorado - where pitchers go to die) and .39 worse than the Red Sox. 25 more runs given up than anyone else with Colorado being 25 back and 49 more than Boston (3 more games than Colorado and 2 more than Boston)

For runs scored, at least they are ahead of the White Sox (by 16 with 5 more games played) and only 2 behind the Mets (who are horrible at scoring too) with 2 games in hand. Batting average is actually 23rd so they are just doing worse at scoring the guys when they get on base.

All that said, looks like they need work at hitting, pitching and fielding (26th in fielding percentage - Oakland by far the worst).

So time to trade Hamels, Paps, and possibly Ruiz? Phils need to aim for that #1 pick! 8-)

8-1 since the break, who are these guys?

Hamels & Nola pitched great, hopefully the front office will now step up & do their jobs.

Phils trade paps for Nats AA pitcher Nick Pivetta. He's currently 22 years old and the Nat's #10 ranked prospect.

I'm good with it. Now we can boo Paps to our hearts' content!
