Are people really eschewing the now approved Covid vaccine for a topical lice treatment (or an injestible heart worm disease drug if your an animal)?

Is this really happening?

I just read an article on the WLOS website that says the horse and cattle de-wormer has sold out at the local Southern States.

Is that what you took from this write-up? I think you need to read the whole thing. It basically says that wearing masks does "something", but is generally pretty ineffective unless you're wearing an N95 mask, and that the space buildup, even with surgical masks, almost fully negates their effectiveness. The report basically reads that ventilation is far more effective than even the best masks are, and that there is a substantial difference between N95 masks and even just surgical masks (while also saying that cloth masks do next to nothing).

Btw, work just mandated an abrupt return to masks anywhere on site. They still say eventually they will try to make masks optional for vaccinated people, provided they show proof of vaccination and sign off that they have been vaccinated, but apparently doing that electronically is proving to be difficult and resolution of that is now indefinite.

Cloth masks range in variety from knitted with huge open area's, to double-layered with a filter in the middle. What kid of mask are they testing?

The study that kalm posted indicates a 3-ply cloth mask. Kalm's study basically says that since masks, even N95 ones, are so poorly fitted, that the efficacy of the masks drops precipitously to the point of almost no benefit. The study does say the room ventilation is significantly more important than even proper fitting N95 masks. I'm not sure kalm meant that in linking the study, but that's what it reads.

And that does not even take into account time wearing them and the decrease in effectiveness the longer they are worn.

I see people all the time with a mask that is dirty enough that I am willing to bet it at one time was on the floorboards of their vehicle.

The study did say the wearing of masks, from the fit to the longevity of wearing them (re-use, when they get wet, etc), does impact the quality and efficacy of the masks.

FWIW I heard earlier this month that about 1/4 of the people who hadn’t gotten the vaccine would if it got fully approved by the FDA.Just heard someone else claim polls show 30% would.

The results show that a standard surgical and three-ply cloth masks, which see current widespread use, filter at apparent efficiencies of only 12.4% and 9.8%, respectively. Apparent efficiencies of 46.3% and 60.2% are found for KN95 and R95 masks, respectively, which are still notably lower than the verified 95% rated ideal efficiencies.
Shocker. At least the science supports the mask mandates...oh wait...

I don't think I will be getting a third booster when available. Even though my reaction to the second was only 24 hours, I would imagine it would be a lot worse for a third shot. Pass.

I'm pretty sure this mask discussion was had about a year ago as anyone with a brain knew the absurdity in claiming the masks less than N95 served a purpose. Now the science has come in to backup the claim that they are mostly useless. Yay science.

Yes, when the science began to waver on the efficacy of masks was about the same time that we transitioned into the virtue signaling of masks - it's about showing that we care for our community or something like that. :coffee:
