Hasn't the census always been every 10 years???
every 10 years since 1790 at least.
I'm not really sure the reasoning behind some people's anti-census sentiment, either.
The census is every ten years. However in 2000 the feds caught a lot of flack over the long form and the questions it asked so they changed their methods. Now the official census is every 10 years. Everyone will get a census short form in April. However beginning in 2005(?) they started this American Community Survey which asks questions that were on the long form. It goes out monthly to be people across America.
I have no problem answering the census. However I do have a HUGE problem with this survey. The survey is supposed to be anonymous yet I have to put my name, address, date of birth, etc. on it. It has a bar code on it so it can be identified to my house. I have to put where I work, the address of where I work, and what time I leave for work every day. You have to put how much you make, how much your mortgage payment is, what your annual utility bills are, a whole bunch of personal info. The law says that Census employees cannot disclose this information. Yet they've lost over 1000 computers the in last several years. How many government computers have been hacked into? If it is supposed to be anonymous why does it need my personal identification information?

If fascism ever comes to America, it will come in the name of liberalism. Ronald Reagan, 1975.
