Re: 2016 Republican Primary
Bobby Jindal agrees with me, Trump taking a page out of Cruz's playbook and putting out there a list of who he would nominate to the SCOTUS, who he would have on his staf and a part of his cabinet prior to the election would go a long way to aiding him in the general.

Kasich- a pro amnesty, establishment, professional politician. 27 of the last 36 years in politics, 18 in DC. Of the 8 years he was out, 7 were with Lehman Brothers 2001-2008 until they went belly up. No thanks. No more establishment, lifetime, professional politicians..Ibanez wrote:John, glad to see you finally realizing this. I think what's worse is that so many people voted for someone other than the best candidate, Kasich.JohnStOnge wrote:Another thing: I was one who railed against stereotyping of Republican voters. They were portrayed as being irrational, etc. I always argued against that. Now I am forced to admit that those who were saying those things were right. We have had a great experiment. A candidate who doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground and just demagogues and engages in ad hominem attacks came forth. Surely nobody with a living brain cell would vote for him.
But lots of Republican primary voters did vote for him. There is no defending Republican voters now.
My wife just told me, regarding Trump, "A good screw to clear our heads."

Sanders, whether he knows it or not, might go down as one of the most important primary opponents in election history. You still don't get it. Neither do most establishment people.JohnStOnge wrote:What happened during the debates illustrates why I almost never watch those "debates." They're not debates. At least they're not debates in the sense of actually arguing about substance. What happened during those "debates" is that Trump hurled insults. He had nothing real. Nothing of substance. He just did stuff like tell Jeb Bush "if you get any lower in the polls you'll be off the stage."In a way, this lack of knowing how to debate showed in the primaries vs. Trump. I still don't understand how he was a debate champion in college.
And Republican primary voters responded positively to that kind of vacant approach. That is not a real positive indication with respect to Republican primary voters.
If you're talking about actual debate on substance Donald Trump is no match for Ted Cruz. No match for just about anybody else in the initial Republican field for that matter. But we weren't talking about debate on substance.
We, the people, are SICK of being lied to by people who pretend to care.
Idiots say that Trump doesn't look Presidential...that he doesn't give good policy speeches.
WTF are you, and others, talking about?
Run back in time and see how many of the previous, "Presidential" folks actually did anything that they, in those ridiculously prepared speeches, promised to do.
Sound bites...to appease the public. Then they go behind their closed doors and make deals to enrich themselves while forgetting their campaign promises.
Hillary is flopping around more than any candidate has in a long time. That comedian touched on it in his correspondence roast. Yet she continues to say she's ALWAYS stood for ___fill in the blank__.
And idiots like Lemiscate eat it up...even when they know she is lying.
Trump is a breath of fresh air. So is Bernie.
I wish both of them would win...but Bernie was too much of a pussy, and Dems voters were (oh, the irony) too conservative and entrenched with the establishment. Oh, and the so called progressive Blacks, chicks, and other miorities were too narrow minded, racist, and bigoted to support a White Man.

Trump is going to use a Clintonism to beat a Clinton.
Trade is going to be Trump's bread and butter issue. American working people are ANGRY about the results of Clinton's signature NAFTA and other trade policies that sent their jobs to Mexico and China.
Hillary has NO answer for that. Hell, she's now doing damage control in W VA with her past remarks about coal.
IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID
Steven Chapman has a nice opinion piece in the Chicago Tribune pointing out a few of Trump's contradictions ...http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opin ... t=blogrollThe stark, simple fact is that his budget proposals would do just the opposite — with a vengeance. It is impossible to simultaneously reduce revenue, increase spending, widen the budget deficit and pay down the debt. Any Wharton School graduate knows as much.
But Trump also knows what a lot of Americans want to hear, on foreign affairs as well as domestic ones. What they don't want to hear is that making sensible government policies means choosing among painful trade-offs.
These voters want everything they now get in the way of federal benefits while paying less in taxes. They want the United States to dominate the world and get its way without fail, but they shun any personal sacrifices to achieve those ambitious goals.
Trump is not one to disabuse them of these pleasant assumptions. If they insist on believing they can have it all, he'll promise to give it to them.
If he ends up in the White House, they'll be terribly disappointed to learn it was too good to be true. Until then, they'll enjoy the fantasy.
As POTUS, Trump can't spend the US to the top and then declare bankruptcy to avoid the creditors.
Stop spending billions protecting other countries. Invest that money in our education and our infrastructure. Stop giving government contracts to anyone that makes our shit out of our country.
We spend a ginormous amount of money on things that give us little return. The money isn't recirculated to help our people out. We have a lot of military people, about 150,000 of them (and that doesn't count the peeps on ships that spend money when docked in other countries), helping to prop up other countries' economies. Bring them home and have them spend the money here. Foreign aid? Spend it here.
Every little thing adds up. I laugh at people that say, well, our aid is only 1% of the budget. Really? Our economy is slugging along at a limp...think 1% of our budget, circulated around, would help out? Give me $35 billion and I think I can make a lot of Americans happier. Of course, that doesn't include the defense budget...and certainly not the black budget for our foreign escapades, an example of which was when we dumped tens of millions to a bunch of goat herding drug lords in Afghanistan, only to have them turn around and attack our forces anyway. Think some struggling Americans could have used that money?
The waste and corruption in our government is unbelievable...and a lot of it goes to the 1% who don't bother to put it back into the economy.
We do not have a spending problem. There is plenty of money and potential work to go around. We have a prioritization problem.

Re: 2016 Republican Primary
Trump is a foul stench. But that kind of comment reflects the underlying problem. Trump's behavior has been absolutely atrocious. Any decent parent who saw his or her son behaving like Trump does would take corrective action. You don't want your kid growing up to behave like that. Yet people call it "refreshing" and think it's cool that he "says what he thinks" and is "not politically correct." First of all, it's not clear that he says what he really thinks. He appears to say whatever he thinks he has to say in the moment to gain advantage and might say exactly the opposite tomorrow if he perceives doing so as being to his advantage then. And if he is saying what he really thinks that's even worse. And being "politically incorrect" is something like Jimmy the Greek saying he thought slave breeding was a factor in black athleticism. Something that runs afoul of the egalitarian orthodoxy but is an honest, reasoned opinion offered with no malice. Trump is just an asshole.Trump is a breath of fresh air.
Then there's the part about him being the most dishonest Presidential candidate of the modern era; making false statements at a frequency that dwarfs the "efforts" in that regard by any of the other candidates. And the whole time he's calling other people as well as the media "dishonest" and "liar" when he's the most dishonest and lying thing out there.
