McConnell should declare the nuclear option on SCOTUS nominations and ram them up Schumer's raggedy ass.

Yeah, Dems knew that triggering the nuclear option like they did would have to come back and haunt them. So shortsighted. But then again, that's what you got when Reid was in charge of things. He could possibly be the worst Senator of the past 50 years. Him leaving government has to be one of the best outcomes of this election cycle.

I fall in this group. I didn't think Trump would be able to beat hilldog, I also didn't think he would pull 34% of the Brown vote. I still generally feel we had two shitty options but we knew what we would get with hilldog and it wouldn't have been good. IMO Trump can be anywhere between Obama levels of awful/incompetence and a good president. We'll see how it turns out.

You mean Team Brown wasn't a monolithic voting block like Democrats and Latino pundits claimed they were?

Not everywhere.

District of Columbia
Clinton - 92.8%
Trump - 4.1%

So let's say Trump does get a physical wall built (with US taxpayer funds undoubtedly) and backs down on deportation claims but institutes some fairly strong immigration reform that does include a path to citizenship for those lucky enough to have hopped the fence in time.

Does he win over Team Brown?

I think a path to citizenship should be Yuge. I wouldn't have that much of a problem with his immigration stance anymore.

But, the people that just voted for him would lose their minds, no?

There has always been a pathway to citizenship for those that enter the country legally and don't overstay their visas. Nothing needs to change in that regard.

If you entered the country illegally or overstayed your visa and want to become a citizen. Leave the country, sit out the waiting period, and get in line like everyone else.

I wouldn't, but most probably would. I mean, you have to do something with these millions of people, right? Physically deporting them and splitting them up from their anchor babies would be prohibitively expensive (likely impossible) and a PR nightmare. So that is out - mass deportation simply can't happen. So you have to figure out how to turn off the flow and deal with the ones who made it through the pipe. You give them a path to citizenship and I think you really shape the demographics for the GOP that have been trending the wrong way for the last couple of decades. Plus you turn them into taxpayers! :D

IMO pathway to citizenship should do it, wall or no wall. Also need something to address the low wage agribusiness as that sector depends on a constant influx of cheap young labor.

Yup. Mass deportations (for the non-violent criminals) isn't going to happen. IMO a wall isn't happening either (cartels run tunnels anyways so a wall is moot). A lot of the illegals are here to better their lives and doing jobs your tpyical American would never do. The beauty of this Trump thing is he is not beholden to the establishment talking points so he can (and should) be able to find common ground among the political group to get some common sense reforms in.

Also nothing would please the left more than to take a BDKKK approach to this issue and prove to everyone that the conks really are racist xenophobes. :coffee:

Tons of room for negotiations, approaches, and ideas. No reason to not get creative to craft a deal that would be acceptable to a lions share of the stakeholders.
